MONDAY WRAP: Special Weekday - Goals, USYNTeamers, Finland Top Tier and Sweden 2nd Tier

So today looked like I might do a small piece on the games going on and I was right. Finland, Sweden and EPL2 are the highlights, lets get straight to it;

In Finland Veikkausliiga, KuPS visited HIFK and GK Craig Hill registered a Shut Out for KuPs as they win 0 - 2

RoPS were without Will John today as they visited Inter Turku and drew 1 - 1 - RoPS results over the past month has put them out of contention for a Euro spot next season

Kemi dropped 3 points at home to VPS in a 1 - 4 defeat, and are now in trouble, hovering just above the relegation zone. Christian Eissele did not make the 18 today.

Brian Span came on as a first half substitute to help Mariehamn maintain their slim lead at the top of Veikkausliiga, making short work of Lahti in a 0 - 2 win
The 23rd of October is the final day of the Veikkausliiga with all the teams playing their final game of the season;

KuPS are safe
RoPS are safe
Kemi must win to survive (They play away at KuPS)
Mariehamn must win at home over #5 Ilves to be assured of first place (Champions League) a draw would certainly give them a Europa League spot. The final positions/outcome will be decided in another high stakes game as #2 HJK (1 point back) hosts #3 SJK (3 points back) - next Sunday can anticipate some last gasp drama in Finland's top tier.

In Sweden's Superettan, Sirius and Patrick Hopkins (90) extended their lead at the top to 5 points with a 4 - 1 win over Orgryte

There are 3 weeks left in the Superettan season. It looks a pretty safe bet that Sirius will be promoted to the top tier Allsvenskan. AFC United (that has 2 US Players) is currently in 2nd place, but only 1 point above the #3 team. Who will get the other automatic promotion and who will be in a play-off for that right will be decided over the coming 3 weeks. The Big game will be next Monday when #1 Sirius will visit #3 Halmstad. Halmstad are 6 points behind Sirius, so if there was ever a '6 point game' this will be it.

Remaining Games;
Sirius - (A) #3 Halmstad
             (H) #9 IK Frej
             (A) #4 Dalkurd

AFC  - (A) #16 (last place) Angelholms
            (H) #7  Atvidabergs
            (A) #3  Halmstad

Halmstad - (H) #1 Sirius
                   (A) #8 Trelleborgs
                   (H) #2 AFC

Looking at the match-ups it looks like AFC might have the easier (not easy) road. This is going to be a final 3 weeks to watch
Other Superettan teams that we follow
Varbergs - are safe
Assyriska FF - are in trouble. With 3 games left, 2 away from home, and 4 points from safety its a tough ask for the team to avoid the drop. The best case scenario would be an opportunity at a play-off with one of the division 2 teams, and hope for a win.
In England's Premier League 2 USYNT Daniel Barbir Scored quickly, 3 minutes in, to give visitors, West Bromwich U23 an early lead. Norwich U23, not to be outdone hit back in the 6th minute and that was it for the scoring until ET when the home team,  Norwich U23, finally broke through. Final 2 - 1

Everything was looking great for Reading U23 after 20 year old American Andrija Novakovich Scored a Brace to give Reading a 2 - 0 lead after 15 minutes. Then the roof caved and visitors Everton U23 scored 6 unanswered goals. Antonee Robison came off the bench for the Everton U23 at minute 56. Reading U23 did get another goal at 89 minutes but by then it was already over. Everton are now EPL2 (Group 1) leaders.  Final 3 - 6

Not such a great game for Fulham U23, with Marlon Fossey and Luca de la Tore as they fall 2 - 0 at Swansea U23, with a goal on both sides of halftime. EPL2 (Group 2) League leaders Swansea had little trouble to deal with.  Final 2 - 0
