WEEKLY WRAP: 6.19.2017 Through 6.25.2017: German Friendlies Rule as Scandinavia Slumps

With International matches, friendlies etc. the number of games is really limited. We have info on games in 9 countries, although some are just friendlies.

As things go, this has not been one of those weeks that you want to remember, and following our guy's has not been the pleasure that it usually is...lets look at the good stuff. Goalkeeper Jeff Gal and his team BK Forward are top of their league, clear by 4 points, with just 1 loss this year win away from home in convincing fashion. New to their team but playing regularly, Chad Barson and Kyle Knotek took part in a 0 -5 away win for Linkoping City, another league leader (by 5 points) and undefeated so far this season. On Saturday, U19 Isaiah Young got a chance to play a level up with Werder Bremen U23 and took advantage of his opportunity with a goal and an assist. Staying in Germany Goalkeeper Kenneth Kronholm had a shut out in a friendly for Kiel, and continuing with a great week for Americans in German friendlies, Terence Boyd and McKinzie Gaines dominated for Darmstadt - Boyd with 5 goals and an assist and Gaines with a goal and assist.....
This all takes the sting out of a blah week for most of our guys...no short list this week

MONDAY

GK Alex Horwath was the backup keeper for Brann as the Norwegian Eliteserien side totally dismantled Stabaek 5 - 0. Brann now share top honor's in the league, and are ahead on GD over Rosenborg

TUESDAY (No Games)

WEDNESDAY

Etchu Tabe (90) Felix De Bona (90) as Ekenas dropped points at home to TPS Turku in a 0 - 1 defeat for 3 straight losses in Finland's Ykkonen

Isaac Kannah (90) as MiPK traveled to #2 Legirus Inter in Finland's Kakkonen (Group A) and forced a 2 - 2 draw - good point there!

Jacob Bushue (90) Mitchel Lopez (90 + yellow) as BK-46 held on for a goalless draw with MuSa in Finland's Kakkonen (Group B) BK-46 have not lost in 5 games, and are 5th on the table in a very tight race to the top

THURSDAY

Brian Span (78) as Mariehamn traveled to HJK on a losing trip in Finland's Veikkausliiga. Winning 2 - 0 HJK are seemingly unbeatable at the moment, leading the table by 8 points. Mariehamn drop to 4th on GD (tied with 2 other teams)

Christian Eissele (90) and Jaro were shut out by KPV 3 - 0 in Finland's Ykkonen. KPV are the top team in the league, so a tough match for Jaro. They have pulled themselves out of the hole but are still to close to the edge

Ryan Masch (90) as Skovde welcomed visitors Husqvarna in their Division 1 (Sodra) match in Sweden that ended in a 1 - 1 draw, a score that helped neither team in the standings

Chad Barson (90) Kyle Knotek (in 18/DNP) as Linkoping City maintained their unbeaten season, so far, with a 0 - 5 win at Boo FF in Sweden Division 2 (Sodra Svealand). Linkoping City are 5 points clear at the top

GK Tony Halterman was the back-up keeper for Nordvarmland as they fall 1 - 4 at home to Vargarda in Sweden's Division 2 (Norra Gotaland). That's 3 straight loses for Nordvarmland

GK Jeff Gal (90) gets another Shut Out as BK Forward traveled to Strombergs and blanked the home team in a 0 - 3 win. Forward and Jeff  have only the one loss this season, and lead the division by 4 points.

GK Will Dieterich (90) and Grotta lost their 3rd straight as they visited Fram in Iceland's Inkasso-deildin by a score of 1 - 0. Grotta who are struggling a bit so far this season, are bottom of the table, but not without hope

In a Friendly in Sweden, GK Josh Wicks (90) and Sirius met Brandon Hines-Ike (90) and Orebro in a game that had Sirius come out on top 1 - 0

FRIDAY

JC Mack (90) as Selfoss' unsettled season continues, this time with a 2 - 0 loss at Fylkir in Iceland's Inkasso-deildin. Selfoss drop down to 5th, but only 6 points separates #1 from #5, so lots of opportunity to improve their position

Harrison Hanley made a guest appearance at the end of the game as Haukar traveled to Leiknir and earned a point in a goalless draw in Inkasso-deildin

Tanner Sica went 90 in Tindastoll's goalless draw at Vidar in Iceland's Division 2. Tindastoll are not quite out of the woods, but 3 games unbeaten has helped them pull away some from the bottom 2

In a Friendly in Germany, GK Kenneth Kronholm started and maintained his teams shut out of minnows Gettorfer SC in a 0 - 13 blow-out win for Kiel

In a Friendly in Germany, Terence Boyd Scored 5 today, (not a typo) and assisted on McKinzie Gaines Goal, who also had an assist (on Boyd's 4th) Darmstadt wins 8 - 0

In a Friendly in Belgium, Kenny Saief started for (and played the 1st half) Gent as they played St.Wetteren to a 1 - 3 win

SATURDAY

Jalon Brown and Alec Faulkner both started for Valentine in Australia's NPL (NNSW) as they win 2 - 1 over league leaders Lambton. Valentine now just 1 point off the lead. (top 3 teams separated by just 2 points)

Tyler Fischer started for Avondale in Australia's NPL (Victoria) as they hosted Kenny Eze and North Geelong. Avondale win this one 3 - 1 after a hectic final few minutes that saw 2 goals and a red card. Avondale are tied 1st (with 2 other teams) in a tight race to the top where 6 teams are within 4 points. North Geelong look doomed to return to the lower leagues and obscurity

Dylan Williams (90) and Launceston City hard a hard day at the office, losing 1 - 5 to South Hobart in Australia's NPL (Tasmania) with only 1 team relegated at the end of the season Launceston are above the drop zone on GD

In Iceland Pepsideilid, Dion Acoff (72) and Valur traveled to Fjolnir and earned a 1 - 1 draw, that keeps them in the lead at the top of the table

Gregory Conrad (72) as Afturelding visited Hottur in Iceland Division 2 winning 0 - 3 and jumping up in the standings to 5th place

In a Friendly in Israel, Aaron Schoenfeld came off the bench and Scored in the 90th minute as M.Tel Aviv won 0 - 3 against Slovakian team Trnava

In a Friendly in Germany, Isaiah Young had a busy day for the Werder Bremen U23's - fouled for a PK (6'), Scored a Goal (13') and credited with an Assist (33') on another - subbed out at 66' as Werder beat up tiny Strackholt 0 - 11

With Stefan Antonijevic watching from the bench Lillestrom visited Valerenga and lost 3 - 1 in Norway Eliteserien breaking a 3 game win streak

SUNDAY

GK Daniel Schmidt (90) and Vegalta Sendai had a bad day as they fall 2 - 4 at home to C-Osaka in Japan's J-League. Historically these 2 teams are pretty even, but this season C-Osaka are unbeaten in their last 5, and had little trouble today as they move into 2nd place

GK Zac Lubin (90) and Ljunskile continue their skid, losing for the 2nd straight match, 1 - 0 to Mjalby in Sweden's Division 1 (Sodra) After being unbeaten in their first 4 games they have now gone 2/2/2 in their last 6, dropping down to to 5th place. I fairness to Ljungskile, today's opponent Mjalby are unbeaten in their last 5 and are now in 2nd place

Eric Friedlander remained on the bench as Nykopings traveled to Sandvikens in Sweden's Division 1 (Norra) in a 3 - 3 goal-fest that did little for either team, beside entertain the fans

Michael Stewart started and Will Weber started on the bench as Örebro Syrianska IF hosted Värmdö IF in Sweden's Division 2 (Sodra Svealand) losing this home match 0 - 2 - their second straight loss as they slip to mid table

Playing at Pitea IF, who are unbeaten in their last 5 matches was always a tall order for Bodens with Leon Taylor and Michael Mercado both starting, but they gave it a good shot before finally succumbing 5 - 4 in Sweden's Division 2 (Norrland) Unfortunately the loss makes it that much more difficult for Bodens to make up points and they slip to 7 points behind of a spot for promotion.

GK Alex Horwath was the backup keeper for Brann as they visited Sarpsborg in Norway's Eliteserien, battling to a 1 - 1 draw. The match had the #1 and #3 teams facing off, and a draw really did nothing for either team....Brann, who are still unbeaten in their last 5, lose their top spot and Sarpsborg stay in 3rd

WEEKLY WRAP: 6-12 thru 6-18-2017: Ups and Downs for Goalkeepers in Scandinavia

I guess that this week is as much about defensive failings as anything. We had goals, 7 scored, but the news of the week is more about the goals allowed.
The biggest loser this week is Matt Pyzdrowski, who up until this week had been exemplary, and his team had risen on his back. But, this week saw defensive breakdowns against their closest rivals and 9 unanswered goals against. Another surprise was also in Sweden where Zac Lubin allowed 4 goals. Zac has 3 shut outs in 10 games allowing just 6 goals prior to this loss. Both keepers will rebound from this week and lead their teams going forward. Incidentally, both teams are sitting in pretty good standing because of their earlier records.
Its not all bad news for our keepers though, Jeff Gal, also in Sweden, saved a PK and had his team winning - Jeff has a 12 games 1 loss record, allowing just 8 goals. Not to be out done, in Finland Paul Blanchette, who had an awful beginning to the season is now on a roll. His season started with 3 Losses and 1 Draw - in the first 4 games, but since settling, he has 5 Wins, 1 Draw in the last 6.

Goal scorers of note this week, Christian Eissele hit a brace in Finland, that's 5 goals in the last 3 games. Jalon Brown continues to score in Australia, climbing up that Golden Boot list rapidly) and Isaac Kannah gets his first of the season and first for his new team

Here is the short list (but there really aren't that many games that you can't read the whole thing)........

GOALS
Christian Eissele (2) - Finland
Leon Taylor - Sweden
Jalon Brown - Australia
Mitchel Lopez - Finland
JC Mack - Iceland
Isaac Kannah - Finland

ASSIST
Brian Span - Finland

SHUT OUT
no shut outs this week

The comprehensive listing.......

MONDAY

The difference between #1 and #2 in Superettan in Sweden has now become very evident, as GK Matt Pyzdrowski (90) and Helsingborg met their match and lost their first of the season in dramatic style, losing 0 - 4 at home to League Leaders Brommapojkarna, who have pulled away at the top with a 10/1/1 record. Helsingborg still at #2 look to be battling for that 2nd place for the remainder of the season.

Eric Friedlander came off the bench at th end of the game for a couple of minutes as Nykopings hosted Enskede, battling to a 3 - 3 draw in Sweden's Division 1 (Norra). Nykopings gave up 2 goals in 2 minutes (86,87) in what they will feel is lost opportunity, and 2 lost points. Both teams are at the bottom of the league, with Nykopings ahead on GD

TUESDAY

Christian Eissele (90) Scored 2 Goals as Jaro traveled to Gnistan in Finland's Ykkonen and won 2 - 3. That makes 5 goals in the last 3 games - its been a while coming but Christian has found his goal scoring form (first 5 games 0 goals, last 3 games 5 goals). Jaro are still far off contending, but with an in form Christian Eissele nothing is off the table.

Leon Taylor (90) Michael Mercado (90) and Bodens, traveled to league leaders Hudiksvalls and earned a 1 - 1 draw in Sweden Division 2 (Norrland)

WEDNESDAY

Not a good day for Americans and their teams today

Brian Span (90) in Mariehamn's 3 - 0 loss to Kemi in Finland's Veikkausliiga. Mariehamn drops to 5th place

Daniel Stevens came off the bench at the 10 minute mark to replace an injured team mate, and was ejected from the game in minute 60 (2 yellows) as GrIFK lost 1 - 3 to KPV in Finland's Ykkonen. GrIFK next to bottom in the league

Felix De Bona (90) Etchu Tabe (in18 DNP) as Ekenas traveled to TPS Turku and got slammed 6 - 0 in Finland's Ykkonen. Ekenas now 3rd from bottom

Dion Acoff (77) as Valur met Briedablik in Iceland's Pepsideilid and won 1 - 2. Valur are now 2 points clear at the top (of Grindavik - see next report)

Will Daniels went 90 as Grindavik were held to a 1 - 1 draw at home to Hafnarfjordur, also in Iceland's Pepsideilid. Grindavik missed an opportunity of sharing the top spot with Valur

THURSDAY

GK Will Dieterich went 90 and picked up a yellow as Grotta traveled to Thor Akureyri losing 2 - 0. Grotta has had a bad run lately, but it is early in the season and they can catch up without to much difficulty with just a couple of results in Inkasso-Deildin in Iceland

Harrison Hanley played the first half of Haukar's 2 - 1 win over Kopavogur, also in Iceland's Inkasso-deildin. Haukar joins 3 other teams on 9 points.

FRIDAY

Just one game with Americans today

Michael Mercado (90) Leon Taylor (90) and Scored Bodens only goal, which was all they needed as they beat Moron BK 1 - 0 in Sweden's Division 2 (Norrland). Bodens are now unbeaten in their last 5 and have only lost once in the first 12 games of the season, they sit in 5th place, in a highly competitive league this season

SATURDAY

Jalon Brown continues to tear up Australia's NPL (NNSW) with another Goal for Valentine, unfortunately this one came in a 1 - 3 loss at home to Broadmeadow. The loss breaks a 3 game win streak, Valentine are now in 3rd place, and they have slipped a little further behind the leaders Lambton

Dylan Williams started and picked up a yellow card as Launceston City fought for a 1 - 1 draw with Kingsborough in Australia's NPL (Tasmania)

Kenny Eze came off the bench for North Geelong as they fall 2 - 1 at Port Melbourne in Australia's NPL (Victoria) as North Geelong keep falling further from safety

Tyler Fischer (90) and Avondale came a cropper as they faced off with Green Gully in NPL (Victoria) losing 3 - 0. Avondale held the first half scoreless, but then tripped and that was that. Avondale played both of their new strikers Tyler and Dutchman Bartels (73) for the first time together but to no avail.

GK Daniel Schmidt (90) as Vegalta Sendai traveled to Sagan Tosu, in Japan's J-League and earned a 1 - 1 draw. Vegalta have not lost in their last 4 and have crept up to 10th place after a rocky start to the season.

GK Jeff Gal (90) and BK Forward continue with their winning way's as they hosted Eskilstuna in Sweden's Division 2 (Norra Svealand) League leaders Forward won this one 2 - 1 and included a match-winning PK save by Jeff. With only 1 loss in 12 games, and Jeff only surrendering 8 goals in that period they are clear at the top of the table

GK Tim Murray was the backup keeper for Honka as they drew 1 - 1 at home with TPS Turku in Finland's Ykkonen

Etchu Tabe (90 + yellow) Felix De Bona (90 + yellow) as struggles continue for Ekenas on their trip to Oulu in Finland's Ykkonen, where a 70th minute goal broke the deadlock and doomed Ekenas to another loss

GK Paul Blanchette (90) and PEPO have fought their way to the top of Finland's Kakkonen (Group A) with a 2 - 3 away win at Lahti Akatemia. 2 quick goals in the first half for the home team gave them the lead going into half time, but PEPO answered the call, and an 89th minute goal gave them the victory

Jacob Bushue (90) Mitchel Lopez (88 ) and BK-46 had an easy day of things as they hosted TPV in Finland's Kakkonen (Group B) Mitchel got the game going on a winning path when he Scored the games first goal after just 1 minute, and BK-46 went on to win this one 5 - 2. With no loses in the last 5, BK-46 has risen to 4th place in the league

Ian Garrett played the final 25 minutes for VIFK, but they were well on the way to the win, with a massive 9 - 0 scoreline over Villiketut in Finland's Kakkonen (Group C). VIFK move up to 2nd place with the win today, which was their 3rd straight

Tanner Sica went 90 for Tindastoll as they hosted Vestri in Iceland's Division 2 winning 2 - 1 for their 2nd straight win, which gets them up to mid-table 6 points off the top

Eric Friedlander came off the bench for the final 8 minutes in Nykopings 1 - 0 loss at Carlstad in Sweden's Division 1 (Norra). With only 1 point in their last 5 outings Nykopings are already in serious trouble, sharing last place in the league after 8 games

In a surprise result GK Zac Lubin gave up 4 goals as Ljunskile were well beaten at Oskarhamns 4 - 0. Ljunskile seem to have hit a bump in the road lately with a draw and a loss in their last 2 games after a solid start to the season. They are still only 2 points off the top spot in the table, but have slipped to 4th place in this highly competitive Sweden Division 1 (Sodra)

Will Weber (76) and Michael Stewart (90) both started for Örebro Syrianska as they traveled to
Varnbols FC in Sweden's Division 2 (Sodra Svealand) losing 3 - 1. Örebro Syrianska also seem to have hit the wall with a loss and draw in their last 2, and like Ljunskile (above) find themselves slipping to 4th place.

SUNDAY

Dylan Autran (57) and Mikkeli (MP) traveled to league leaders Klubi 04 and fought to a 1 - 1 draw in Finland's Kakkonen (Group A). The tie put MP in to 5th place on the table

For the 2nd time in a week, Helsingborg and GK Matt Pyzdrowski (90) were pummeled by a top team. Earlier in the week with a 4 - 0 loss to league leaders Brommapojkarna , today 5 - 0 by Alex De John (90) and 2nd place Dalkurd. So Helsingborg have given up 10 goals and scored 1 in their last 3 games, and as you would expect have slipped down in the Swedish Superettan table, but only to 3rd. Dalkurd are going in the opposite direction, and are up to 2nd place

Chad Barson (90) Kyle Knotek (bench) as Linkoping City visited Sodertalje in Sweden's Division 2 (Sodra Svealand) winning 0 - 1 on a 79th minute PK. Linkoping City are on top of the table, and remain unbeaten

Timothy Wilson (90) as OTP fall in ET 0 - 1 to PK-37 in Finland's Kakkonen (Group C) OTP have yet to win a game this season, and as you can imagine, things look grim for them

Ryan Masch (90) and Skovde AIK visited league leaders Landskrona in Sweden's Division 1 (Sodra) losing this one 2 - 0

In Iceland Inkasso-deildin JC Mack (90) Scored the first and winning Goal for Selfoss, as they went on to beat Leiknir F. 2 - 0 moving them into 3rd place in the division. That's JC's 3rd league goal of the season (he also has 3 cup goals)

In Finland's Veikkausliiga, Mariehamn and Brian Span (72 + Assist) won their home match with JJK 2 - 1. The win put's Mariehamn into 3rd - 3 points behind VPS with a game in hand

In Finland Kakkonen (Group C) Jossimer Sanchez (90) Lawrence Smith (1) Chris Corcoran (in 18 DNP) and GBK traveled to AC Kajaani and won 1 - 2 against the league leaders - handing them their first loss of the season. GBK are tied 4th after 4 wins in their last 5matches

Isaac Kannah (90) Scored Mikkelin Kissat (MiKi) first and ultimately winning goal as they hosted Kiffen in Finland's Kakkonen (Group A) and won 3 - 2. This is Isaac's first goal of the season, and his first for MiKi

Stefan Antonijevic remained on the bench as Lillestrom scored 3 minutes into ET to win 1 - 0 over Viking in Norway's Eliteserien

Gregory Conrad remained on the bench as Afturelding visited Magni in Iceland's Division 2 and lost 2 - 1

Dion Acoff (69) as 10 man Valur needed on OG and then a fight to the finish to win 1 - 0 against #4 Akureyri. The win keeps Valur in the top spot of Pepsideilid with Grindavik (see below) snapping at their heels

Will Daniels (90) as Grindavik hosted Vestmannaeyjar in Iceland's Pepsideild winning handily 3 - 1 and maintaining their 2nd place spot in the division.

There are 203 leagues (according to FIFA) that have Transfer Windows. You can view them all here

Notable absences are Australia and  New Zealand who are on a different cycle - although I expect they will appear with updated data on the list soon.

OK so that's the list - look out for the "Summer Transfer Window"  post very soon

WEEKLY WRAP: 6-5 through 6-11: Scandinavia Rocks!!

The number of matches is just diminishing so quickly. Sweden and Finland dominate this week, so a lot of names will be unfamiliar. We identified a couple of new faces in Sweden that we are confirming nationality for and we may have lost one player who we have been following (checking nationality) I will take a moment to thank the Forum Members at Big Soccer/Yanks Abroad for supplying player specific info, that adds to this site - Thanks Guys!

This week we also saw Bjorn Johnsen play an official game with Norway, so he is cap tied and off our list going forward.

Good to see Christian Eissele back as a regular goal scorer and Lawrence Smith - still continues to score. Dylan Autran debut's with a goal - that's cool

Keepers had an overall good week Jeff Gal had his team back on track after last weeks hic-cup. Zac Lubin continues to perform (6GA in 9 games) and Paul Blanchette has turned his team into a contender since settling in.

Read more below.........

GOALS
Christian Eissele (2) - Finland
Dylan Autran - Finland
Mitchel Lopez (2) - Finland
Leon Taylor - Sweden (Checking Nationality)
Felix De Bona (3) - Finland (Checking Nationality)
Lawrence Smith - Finland

MONDAY

Jamil Fearrington (90) as Bronshoj traveled to Greve in Denmark Division 2 (Promotion Group) and won 1 - 2

Mayowa Alli (90 + yellow) for Thisted as they beat hosts Hvidovre 2 - 4 in Denmark Division 2 (Promotion Group) - Thisted are already promoted to Division 1

Anton Peterlin (90 + yellow) as B93 visited Marienlyst also in Denmark Division 2 (Promotion Group) losing this one 2 - 1, dropping them to 6th and realistically out of contention for promotion this year

Fabian Hurzeler (played all 120 minutes) and Pipinsried will enter the final of the Bayern Regionalliga Pro/Rel match up with Seligenporten, after Pipinsried beat Furth II 2 - 3 (3 - 4 agg) in a game that needed to go into extra time to be decided.

Will Daniels (90) in Grindavik's 0 - 1 win over KR Reykjavik in Iceland's Pepsideild. Grindavik are tied for 1st place (third on GD)

TUESDAY

Michael Stewart (90) Will Weber (in 18 DNP) and Örebro Syrianska IF blasted Boo FK 6 - 0 in Sweden's Division 2 (Sodra Svealand)

WEDNESDAY

Last week Christian Eissele finally scored his season opener for Jaro, and personally I w as getting worried that his mojo was gone....so today I feel much better. Christian Eissele (90) Scored 2 Goals for Jaro today, which gave them a 2 - 0 lead going into the half, but they squandered the lead and finally lost 2 - 3 at home to OPS in Finland's Ykkonen

Joshua Perez (80) as short-handed Fiorentina U19 came back from a goal down in ET, then won the Primavera Semi-Final over Juventus U19 with a 1 - 2 scoreline (on PK's) an amazing job for Fiorentina U19 - OK they've beaten Juve, now on to Inter U19 in the final

Harrison Hanley played the 2nd half for Haukar as they traveled to Keflavik, losing 3 - 0 in Iceland's Inkasso-deildin

THURSDAY

In Finland's Kakkonen (Group A) Dylan Autran (in only his 2nd game) entered the match at 58' with the game tied at 1 - 1 - at minute 69 he Scored the winning Goal for MP as they win their home match against MiPK. The win moves MP up to 2nd place.

GK Will Dieterich (90) and Grotta fall 1 -2 at home to IR Reykjavik in Iceland's Inkasso-deildin and as a result fall into the red-zone (bottom 2 clubs)

FRIDAY

2 goals in 2 minutes settled things as Jason Bushue (90 + yellow) and Mitchel Lopez (90) Scored both goals for BK-46 in their 2 - 0 win over Viikingit in Finland's Kakkonen (Group B) BK-46 up to 4th place after 2 straight wins (3 wins in 4 outings)

Timothy Wilson (90) in OTP's goalless draw at JJK in Finland's Kakkonen (Group C) OTP has had a rough start to the season, and sits bottom, so a goalless draw at #2 JJK is a promising result.

JC Mack (90) and Selfoss traveled to Leiknir in Iceland's Inkasso-deildin and were defeated 2 - 0 - which really has halted their run for the top (they would have been in 2nd place with a win) instead they remain in 4th.

SATURDAY

Tyler Fischer went 62 minutes in his debut for Avondale FC as they win 2 - 0 over Oakleigh in Australia's NPL (Victoria) Avondale brought in 2 strikers last week, in their bid for a playoff spot, both debuted today Tyler starting and Dutchman Jip Bartels scoring...looks like good move by Avondale, who move up to 3rd place

Kene Eze started for North Geelong as they traveled to FC Bulleen in Australia's NPL (Victoria) losing 3 - 1. Writing is starting to get clear on the wall that North Geelong wil get relegated (maybe)

In Sweden, Bodens traveled to Taftea IK and won 1 - 2 in Division 2 (Norrland). We possibly have 2 players at Bodens. Leon Taylor who went 90 and Scored the opening goal, and Michael Mercado (90 + yellow). I am investigating whether or not they are Americans

GK Jeff Gal (90) and BK Forward quickly got back to winning ways, after last week's slip, beating Sundbybergs 1 - 3 in Sweden's Division 2 (Norra Svealand) BK Forward are in 2nd place only 1 point out of 1st

Devin Morgan was an unused sub, as Södertälje FK visited IFK Haninge in Sweden Division 2 (Sodra Svealand) and earning a 1 - 1 draw. Enough for Södertälje to keep themselves 2 points above the red zone.

In Denmark Division 2 (Promotional Group) we have reached the final week of matches.

B93 and Anton Peterlin (47) met Kjellerup and Oh Dear, Anton got a straight red as B93 went on to win 3 - 1, finishing 5th for the year

Mayowa Alli entered the match at 22 minutes, replacing an injured team-mate, and played the rest of the game, picking up a yellow card, as Thisted drew 1 - 1 with Greve. Thisted are promoted to Division 1 next season. Congratulations to Mayowa and Thisted

Jamil Fearrington (90) as Bronshoj defeated Aarhus Fremad 2- 0 ending the season with 2 wins and in 7th place in the group.

***Felix De Bona (90) had himself a day at Ekenas, Scoring 3 Goals in a 4 - 1 victory over Daniel Stevens (45) and GrIFK in Finland's Ykkonen. The win gets Ekenas out of the red zone

Christian Eissele (90) as Jaro hosts Oulu in Finland's Ykkonen and holds on for a 1 - 1 draw. (Jaro and Ekenas are tied on points - and just above the drop zone)

GK Paul Blanchette (90) and PEPO get the 2 - 1 win over Sudet in Finland's Kakkonen (Group A) PEPO move up to 3rd place, and have not lost in their last 5 matches.

Jossimer Sanchez (90) Lawrence Smith (90) and scored another Goal as GBK thumped JBK 4 - 0 in Finland Kakkonen (Group C) This was Lawrence's 3rd Goal in 7 games

In Sweden Division 1 (Sodra) Ryan Masch (79) as Skovde were held to a 1 - 1 draw at home to Oddevold. Hey Skovde, this should not happen at home, playing a team that has not won a point in their last 5!!

Chad Barson (90) Kyle Knotek (64) as Linköping City battle to a 3 - 2 win over Värmdö IF in Sweden's Division 2 (Sodra Svealand). Linköping City remains unbeaten, and retains the top spot in the league

Michael Stewart (90) Will Weber entered off the bench at 39 (replacing the teams injured captain) as Örebro Syrianska IF held on for a 2 - 2 draw at home to IF Sylvia in Sweden's Division 2 (Sodra Svealand) Örebro Syrianska are on a roll right now, they have not lost in their last 5 and are now up to 3rd place

In what turned out to be a complete disaster, Nordvärmland FF visited Karlstad BK in Sweden's Division 2 (Norra Gotaland) Kyle Gurrieri (90 + yellow) and GK Tony Halterman, who came on at the start of the 2nd half (Tactical) tried to make the score more respectable in the 2nd half, but they were just plain beaten up 5 - 1 by the league leaders.

In Iceland Division 2 Tanner Sica (90) as Tindastoll traveled to Hottur and won 1 - 3 - their first win of the season and it drags them out of the bottom 2

SUNDAY

Ian Garrett came off the bench at the 70th minute as VIFK won their home game 2 - 1 against KajHa in Finland's Kakkonen (Group C) VIFK has moved into 2nd place on the table

GK Zac Lubin (90) and Ljungskile SK held on for a 1 - 1 draw at home with FC Rosengård 1917 in Sweden's Division 1 (Sodra) Ljungskile sitting in 3rd, still only have 1 defeat this season, and Zac has only allowed 6 goals.

It's hard to say loss, when a team battles its way to a final.....Fiorentina U19 and Joshua Perez (90) lost in the Primavera Final 1 - 2 to Inter U19 in Italy. Joshua and Fiorentina U19 should be proud of their accomplishment this season - Congratulations

*** There is some question as to Felix De Bona's nationality....he has been viewed by some as a Brazil/USA dual and others as Brazil. We will continue to investigate this, once we are sure we will adjust to match.

NEW WEEKLY WRAP: 5-29 thru 6-04: New Faces, Goals, Shut Outs and Other News

So here we are for our second weekly wrap, and it was a bit busier than I thought it would be. The big stand-out is the number of new faces, who's scoring and the goalkeepers that are getting it done.

New Faces: The Spring migration to Scandinavia has almost finished, young Americans have found their way to Sweden and Finland and are now starting to get play time on their new teams. I have written about some in the blog already,  Kyle Gurrieri, Tony Halterman, Michael Stewart, Will Weber in Sweden   Chad Barson, Timothy Wilson, Joshua Bushue, Dylan Autran, Ian Garrett and Paul Blanchette in Finland also Jalon Brown tear it up in Australia with schoolmate Alec Faulkner. Marcus Salandy-Defour in Denmark, Tanner Sica, Gregory Conrad and Devonte Small in Iceland and those just featured this week - there are more in the wings

Goals this week from saw Christian Eissele finally get off the mark, Kyle Gurrieri get his first and Jalon Brown continue his form with his 6th this season.

Keepers saw mixed results overall with Jeff Gal suffering his first loss of the season (not a bad run at all - 10 games only 6 goals allowed) Paul Blanchette got his 2nd (consecutive) shut out and Zac Lubin his 4th shut out in 8 games.

OK here's the short list......

GOALS
Will Daniels - Iceland
Mitchel Lopez - Finland
Jalon Brown - Australia
Felix De Bono - Finland
Christian Eissele - Finland
Kyle Gurrieri - Sweden
Brian Span - Finland

SHUT OUT
Steve Clark - Denmark
Alex Horwath - Norway
Paul Blanchette - Finland
Zac Lubin - Sweden
Daniel Schmidt - Japan

.......and here's the more comprehensive list ( you will see many names that are new to you)

MONDAY

The week starts off with a thrilling Championship Match with EPL Promotion as the prize and Manager David Wagner (ex USMNT striker) takes his team, Huddersfield, from almost relegated last season - to Premier League this, with a 1 - 0 final score (decided by PK's) Danny Williams (90 + ET + PK) and Reading fall on the very last kick (4 -3 on PK's) Wow!!!

Daniel Stevens (23) and GrIFK visited Honka (and probably wished they didn't) and got thumped 5 - 0 in Finland's Ykkonen. GrIFK firmly in last place now

Christian Eissele (90 + yellow) still hasn't found his scoring form this season as Jaro traveled to TPS Turku in Finland's Ykkonen and lost 1 - 0. Jaro in 6th place, but with 2 games in hand

Jacob Bushue (90) Mitchel Lopez (90) as BK-46 hosted KaPa and held on for a goalless draw in Finland's Kakkonen (Group B)

Brandon Hines-Ike (90) as Orebro welcomed Sirius and GK Josh Wicks (90) in their Sweden Allsvenskan match up. Orebro won the competition 2 - 1 after Sirius missed a 1st half PK. Sirius in a big drop out of top 3, down to 7th, Orebro out of bottom 3 (4 points above red zone)

GK Matt Pyzdrowski (90) and Helsingborg remain the only undefeated team in Sweden's Superettan after winning 3 - 1 over Syrianska. They sit in 2nd place.

Kyle Knotek (90) and Chad Barson (90 + yellow) as Linkoping City won 1 - 0 on an OG over (then 2nd place) Sylvia. The 3 points boosts them into 2nd place, and yes they remain undefeated in Sweden's Division 2 (Sodra Svealand)

TUESDAY

Jann George (67) as Regensburg traveled to 1860 Munich in the 2nd leg of the Pro/Rel playoff. The game was marred by fan violence (by 1860 Ultras) and was halted for a period at the end of the game - which Regensburg won 0 - 2 (1 - 3 agg) and claimed a spot in Germany's 2Liga next season. Congrats to Regensburg and Jann on the promotion

GK Will Dieterich (90) and Grotta fought hard in their Icelandic Cup match at Akranes, finally succumbing in ET 2 - 1.

Kyrian Nwabueze and FC Shirak finished off their Armenian Premier League season with a goalless draw with Gandzasar. Shirak finished 3rd in the league and will be one of the teams to represent Armenia in the Europa League next year

Brian Span (67) in Mariehamn's 2 - 1 win over RoPS in Finland's Veikkausliga which moves them up to 5th place (within 4 points of a EU spot)

Not a good result for Horsens and GK Steve Clark (90 - Shut Out) as they are held in a goalless draw by Vendsyssel in the Denmark Superliga (Relegation Playoff Final). Conor O'Brien stayed on the bench for this match. Horsens will have to survive in the 2nd leg at Vendsyssel to avoid being relegated

GK Alex Horwath (90) get the Shut Out as Brann travel to Nest-Sotra and win 0 - 2 in Norway's NM Cup, qualifying for the next round

Stefan Antonijevic and Lillestrom didn't have it all their own way, but ended with a comfortable away win 2 - 4 also in Norway's NM Cup

In Denmark's other (Relegation Playoff Final), George Fochive (12) came off the bench to help Viborg to a 1 - 1 draw at Helsingor, so an away goal and a home match will give them the edge in the 2nd leg

JC Mack went 79' as Selfoss visited Hafnarfjordur in in the Icelandic Cup, losing 2 - 1. All the goals came in the first half, but Selfoss could not find a way through in the 2nd half

GK Paul Blanchette gets the Shut Out (Paul's 2nd consecutive) as PEPO traveled to Kultsu in Finland's Kakkonen (Group A) winning 0 - 2, moving them up to 3rd place (tied 2 - GD)

THURSDAY

Fabian Hurzeler (90) in Pipinsried Pro/Rel match with Furth II ended in a 1 - 1 draw - slight disadvantage to Pipinsried for the return at Furth II

Jamil Fearrington (90) in Bronshoj 3 - 0 defeat at Brabrand in Denmark's Division 2 (Promotion Group)

Anton Peterlin (90) in B93's 1 - 3 win at Greve in Denmark's Division 2 (Promotion Group) B93 are in 5th - 6 points out of a promotional spot

Mayowa Alli (90) in an unexpected 0 - 2 home loss to Kolding in Denmark's Division 2 (Promotion Group) Thisted have already won the league, Kolding are sitting in 3rd 4 points out of 2nd (promo spot)

Weird One...Will Daniels (90) Scored Grindavik's only goal during regular time (which ended 1 - 1). Will is one of his teams top scorers, but he was omitted from the PK (first 5) and Grindavik lost 2 - 1 (on PK's) to Leiknir in Icelandic Cup.

FRIDAY

Jacob Bushue (90) and Mitchel Lopez (90+1 - subbed out in dying moments) Scored BK-46 2nd and winning goal as they win at Espoo 1 - 4 in Finland's Kakkonen (Group B) BK-46 move up to 5th after 2 wins and a draw in their last 3 games

GK Ciaran Nugent was the backup keeper today, for Galway as they traveled to Derry City in Ireland's Premier League, losing this match 2 - 1. Three losses in a row, and Galway are back in last place

Harrison Hanley off the bench at 62' trying to help Haukar as they faced off with GK Will Dieterich (90) and Grotta in Iceland's Inkosso-deildin. The match ended 1 - 1 which did not help either team ( a win by Haukar would have placed them 3rd, or a win by Grotta would have them at 4th)

Gregory Conrad came off the bench at 75' for Afturelding as they visited Njardvik in Iceland's Division 2. Afturelding falling 1 - 0. Njardvick rise to #1 Afturelding drop to 3rd.

SATURDAY

Jalon Brown (90) Scored the only goal of the game as Valentine win in their derby match with Lake Macquarie in Australia NPL (Northern NSW) Valentine move to the top of the table with the victory

Kene Eze started for North Geelong as they hosted Kingston City, losing this one 0 - 2 in Australia NPL (Victoria) I would say North Geelong are in big trouble this season and need to turn things around in a hurry

Dylan Williams went 90 for Launceston City as they hosted Northern Rangers in Australia NPL (Tasmania) losing 1 - 2 Launceston have definitely lost their mojo

Both Americans started for Ekenas as they traveled to KPV in Finland's Ykkonen. Etchu Tabe went 74 and Felix De Bono went 90 and Scored a first half PK as they fall 2 - 1 and slip to just 1 point above the red zone

Dylan Autran got to play the 2nd half as Mikkeli (MP) visited Kultsu and lost 1 - 0 in Finland's Kakkonen (Group A) MP retain 3rd place in the league despite the loss. This was Dylan's debut for MP.

Ian Garrett (90 + yellow) as VIFK won their match against Lawrence Smith (90) Jossimer Sanchez (90) and GBK in Finland Kakkonen (Group C) . VIFK rise to 5th and GBK slip to 8th. This was Ian's first start for VIFK (he debuted last week with 2 minutes at the end of the game)

JC Mack went 90+3 before being subbed as Selfoss won 1 - 0 over Kopavogur in Iceland's Inkasso-deildin. The win has them tied 3rd - 2 points off 1st place

Tanner Sica (90 + yellow) in Tindastoll's 1 - 2 home loss to Magni in Iceland's Division 2. Tindastoll are having a rough start to the season with 3 straight losses, and only 2 points from 5 games

Brendan Hines-Ike went 90 in Orebro's 0 - 1 away win at Kalmar in Sweden's Allsvenskan, as they finally find their form and pull themselves up the table

Romain Gall went 61 minutes for Sundsvall as they traveled to Ostersunds falling 3 - 1 in Sweden's Allsvenskan. Sundsvall have now lost 3 straight and have slipped down the table, perched just above the drop zone

Ryan Masch went 90 as Skovde visited Karlskrona and won 0 - 2 over their close rivals in Sweden's Division 1 (Sodra) the win leapfrogs them above today's opponent

GK Zac Lubin goes 90, picks up a yellow and gets the Shut Out as Ljungskile travel to Kristianstads and win 0 - 2. Ljungskile now share the top spot in Sweden's Division 1 (Sodra) Zak now has 4 Shut Outs this season (after 8 games) and has only allowed 5 goals in that period

GK Jeff Gal (90) and BK Forward lost their first game of the season 2 - 0 at Gute in Sweden's Division 2 (Norra Svealand). Forward missed their chance to go top of the league and remain in 2nd place. Jeff has only allowed 6 goals in 10 games.

Stefan Antonijevic came off the bench in ET as Lillestrom visited Stabaek in Norway's Eliteserien 2 - 4 win

Alex De John came off the bench at 63' as visitors Dalkurd had little trouble with this match, on the pitch, but the game was abandoned with Dalkurd leading 1 - 3 at Syrianska in Sweden's Superettan. Dalkurd are in 3rd place in the table.

In Sweden Division 2 (Sodra Svealand) Michael Stewart (90) Will Weber (7) as Örebro Syrianska IF traveled to Motola AIF winning 1 - 2 making it 3 straight wins and rising to tied 6th in the table

In their 2nd game this week, Linköping City and Kyle Knotek are finally beaten. Linkoping traveled to Varmbois and lose 1 - 0 unfortunately on an OG. Linkoping are still in 2nd place in the table (but only on GD)

SUNDAY

GK Daniel Schmidt gets the Shut Out as Vegalta Sendai hosted Kofu in Japan's J-League winning 3 - 0 for their 2nd straight win

GK Steve Clark (90) Conor O'Brien (90 + yellow) and Horsens enter today's match knowing that if they lose they are relegated from Denmark's Superliga. Well that didn't happen Horsens won at Vendsyssel 1 - 3 and will remain in Superliga next season

Christian Eissele (90) Scored Jaro's 2nd goal, giving his team a comfortable 2 goal lead with 15 minutes left to play .....then Haka fought back and the match ended at a 2 - 2 draw in Finland's Ykkonen. Good to see Christian get off the mark, but his team needs to do better

Timothy Wilson (90 + yellow) as OTP looked on the way to their first win of the season in Finland's Kakkonen (Group C) but alas a 90+5 ET goal by Narpes Kraft led to a 3 - 3 draw. Good to see OTP actually score (they had not scored through 5 games)

Eric Friedlander got 6 minutes in as Nykopings fall 0 - 1 at home to Arameisk-Syrianska in Sweden's Division 1 (Norra) Nykopings are on a 5 game skid, which has placed them tied at the bottom of the league

Kyle Gurrieri Scored Nordvärmland FF goal, and that was enough to give them the win over Gauthiod in Sweden's Division 2 (Norra Gotaland). Due to lack of info, I cannot say how long Kyle played for, or if GK Tony Halterman played (he was in 18)

GK Matt Pyzdrowski (90) and Helsingborg still retain their unbeaten status in Sweden's Superettan as they traveled to Falkenbergs and earned a 1 - 1 draw. Helsingborg are in 2nd place on the table.

GK Josh Wicks (90) as Sirius score an ET goal to earn a 2 - 1 victory over Halmstad in Sweden's Allsvenskan. Sirius back on their winning way after a rough patch the past 3 weeks, move up to 5th

Mix Diskerud went 73 as Goteborg traveled to Norrkoping in Sweden Allsvenskan, losing 2 - 0 - Goteborg are in 11th place 3 places above the drop zone

Isaac Kannah (90) as Mikkeli UP (MiPK) win 2 - 1 at home over PKKU in Finland's Kakkonen (Group A)

Brian Span (90) Scored the opening goal for Mariehamn as they traveled to KuPS in Finland's Veikkausliga on the way to a 1 - 2 win. Mariehamn on a roll with 2 straight wins move up the table to 5th (2 points off of 2nd place) in a tight group at the top of the table

George Fochive never made it off the bench as Viborg faced off with Helsingor in the other pro/rel battle in Denmark. A battle that wasn't decided until after ET, and a game that ended in a 2 - 2 draw, with Helsingor gaining the upper hand in away goals. The agg was 3 - 3. So Viborg are relegated....

GK Alex Horwath was the backup keeper today as Brann visited Odd in Norway's Eliteserien and earned a goalless draw. Brann are in 3rd place after 2 straight draws (following 3 wins)

Joshua Perez went 90 as Fiorentina U19 beat Atalanta U19 1 - 0 in the Primavera Quarter Finals....and advanced to the Primavera Semi Finals where they will meet Juventus U19
