WEEKEND WRAP: Saturday 4/9/2016 Features 6 Goals - But Not From Where You Think

So another busy Saturday Wrap. Crunch time in many leagues, and first games in others. Today we had 6 goals by Americans, although none came in games, leagues where you would expect. So nice surprises. Most enjoyable of all, Emerson Hyndman gets his first club goal at any level for Fulham, and he got it in extra-time (90+3) to give Fulham the win (OH! and its his 20th Birthday). We had a goal in Sweden, Eddy Prugh's first of the season. Bryan Gaul (yup ex LAG) scored his first goal for Bahlinger in Germany, and another in Germany from Alassane Kane. We also had goals in Slovakia, Nermin Crnkic and Luxembourg Omar Ontiveros. Goal Keepers had a mixed day, Daniel Schmidt(Japan) and Josh Wicks (Sweden) had shut-outs, but Cody Cropper (England) was punished and Brad Guzan and Paul Rachubka (England) are probably relegated.

So here's the full list;

GK Daniel Schmidt started, went 90 and got the shut-out as Yamaga beat Tokushima in Japan's J-League 2

In Germany Liga2, Shawn Barry started, went 90 as Frankfurt visited Bochum in a bit of a lop-sided game with Bochum winning 4 - 1

Seems to be the score to get today in Liga2. Andrew Wooten and Sandhausen hosted Bielefeld, both teams in mid-table. Andrew went 90 minutes as Sandhausen falls 1 - 4.

In Ukraine Premier League, Eugene Starikov, was in the 18 (DNP) for Ch. Odessa as they won their home game 1 - 0 over Hoverla Uzhhorod.

In Sweden Division 2 Norrland, Eddy Prugh and Bodens opened up their season and things started well, with Eddy Scoring Bodens first goal against visitors Valbo. Unfortunately Bodens gave up a 2 goal lead and had to settle for a 2 - 2 draw

In Germany's 3Liga, Marc Heider came off the bench at 68th minute for Kiel as they visited Dresden and came away with a point in a goalless draw.

Devante Parker started for Mainz II as they hosted Fortuna Koln and lost 0 - 1

Joel Sonora played the first half for Stuttgart II as they faced off with Aalen, a late Stuttgart II goal saved a defeat, as the game ended in a 1 - 1 draw

Royal-Dominique Fennell, started and went the 90 minutes for Wurzburger as they beat Stuttgarter Kickers 2 - 1

In Regionalliga Sudwest, ex LAG Bryan Gaul defender, Scored his first goal for Bahlinger in his first game as they went on to thump Neckarelz 5 - 0

Dylan Romney, in 18 (DNP) as Savona visited Rimini, in Italy Lega Pro (Group B) Savona won 0 - 1, but its probably to late for them to save their season and relegation looks on the horizon

In Finland Veikkausliiga, Christian Eissele came of the bench at 70th minute, but by then it was to late for Kemi, as they fall at home to SJK in the first league game of the season for both teams

Also in Veikkausliiga, Brian Span went 90 for Mariehamn as they hosted Will John and Rovaniemi - Will came of the bench at 69th minute - Mariehamn won this one 1 - 0

In Italy Lega Pro (Group B) Robbie Kristo came off the bench at the 67th minute but the outcome was already set as Tuttocuoio fall 2 - 1 at Maceratese

In Bundesliga, Shawn Parker was in 18 (DNP) as Augsburg visited Bremen and won 1 - 2. Bremen are on the relegation bubble after today

Timothy Chandler started, went 90 as Frankfurt fell 0 - 2 to Hoffenheim - not looking to good for Frankfurt right now

Ingolstadt and Alfredo Morales (in 18, DNP) welcomed M'Gladbach(#4) and Fabian Johnson (started went 78) and won 1 - 0. A lost opportunity to make up ground on Hertha(#3) M'Gladbach now in a battle with Leverkusen for the UCL final spot

In England EPL, Brad Guzan and Aston Villa lose again, 1 - 2 to Bournemouth, and are basically relegated - no news on Guzan's future yet, but it probably won't be long.

Matt Miazga only lasted one half, picked up a yellow as Chelsea fall 0 - 1 at Swansea

As expected, Tim Howard remained on the bench for Everton, as they visited Watford in a 1 - 1 draw

GK Paul Rachubka was in 18 (DNP) as Bolton lose 4 - 1 at Derby, and will now plan for League One football next season

Emerson Hyndman SCORED (his first senior level club goal) the Extra Time winner for Fulham as they hosted Cardiff. That's 3 wins in a row for Fulham who are now safe in the English Championship. Emerson has scored for the US20 & US23

It has not been good for Cody Cropper and MK Don's since he was named starting GK. Today's 0 - 4 loss to fellow strugglers Rotherham did not help as they are now likely to be relegated from the Championship

Two early goals doomed Reading and Danny Williams (90) as they hosted Birmingham and Jonathan Spector (in 18, DNP) and fell 0 - 2. Neither team is in a Promotion race or Relegation battle

Adam Henley, in 18 (DNP) for Blackburn as they visited Wolves in a goalless draw

Gboly Ariyibi started and went 90 as Chesterfield visited Barnsley and came away with a 1 - 2 win, despite being a man down in League One play, Gboly provided the assist's on both goals

Shane O'Neill, was in 18 (DNP) as Cambridge visited Newport in League Two and got the 0 - 1 win

GK Brendan Moore gave up a 59 minute goal and Torquay fell 0 - 1 to Tranmere in Vanarama National League. Torquay now find themselves just 3 points above the drop

In Scotland's Premier League, Ross County and Chris Konopka (in 18, DNP) won their home match 1 - 0 against  Partick Thistle. Ross County end the regular season in 6th and will play in the Championship Group along with Perry Kitchen and Hearts.

GK Josh Wicks and AFC United got off to a good start in Sweden Superettan winning their first 2 games and grabbing the lead in the league - This is Josh's 2nd shut-out in 2 games - today AFC beat GAIS 3 - 0

GK Adam Hobbs was on the losing side today as Rathenow falls 1 - 3 to Viktoria Berlin in Regionalliga Nordost

Russel Canouse started, went 90 for Hoffenheim II as they visited Hessen Kassel in Regionalliga Sudwest and came away with a 1 - 1 draw

Matt Taylor started for Sandhausen, went 66, as they played to a 2 - 2 draw with Charlie Rugg (came off the bench at 78) and Trier also in Regionalliga Sudwest. (No goal from Super-Sub Rugg today)

In Regionalliga Bayern, David Spies started and went 90 for Augsburg II as they hosted Fabian Hurzeller and 1860 II (came off bench at 65th minute) and played to a 2 - 2 draw

Dual (Ger/USA) Dominic Robinson, went the first half for Memmingen in Regionalliga Bayern, as they visited Furth II and lost 2 - 0

Alassane Kane Scored DJK Bamberg's 2nd Goal as they visited Alemannia Haibach and came away with all 3 points in a 0 - 2 win in Oberliga Bayern

Omar Ontiveros Scored for Grevenmacher in a 1 - 1 draw with Rumelange in Luxembourg's National Division

Kenny Seif and Gent came up empty as they visited Club Brugge in Belgium Jupiler League, losing 2 - 0. Kenny went the 90

In Slovakia, after giving up a first half PK, Slovan Bratislava fought their way back starting with a Nermin Crnkic Goal that opened the floodgates as Slovan Bratislava bested Ruzomberok 3 - 1

Patrick Tshiani started and went 90 minutes for bottom placed KRC Mechelen in Belgium's 3rd tier as they took on League Leaders Hamme and although reports have KRC playing better, Hamme took the late lead and won 1 - 2

Both Fabian Johnson and John Brooks carrying injuries from their USMNT break. Fabian (Groin) played (90/Assist) John (Ankle) did not make the 18. The result was a lopsided 5 - 0 win for M'Gladbach, who have moved into 4th place, just 3 points behind Hertha in the race to qualify for next seasons UCL.

WEEKEND WRAP: Saturday 3/19/2016 - Features a Goal in Malta, Injuries and a GK Triple

Today's games, and there are many - are again a mixed bag. Gus Villalobos scored the only US Player goal, Goalie Brendan Moore makes it 3 clean sheets in a row. Bad news for USYNT as we lost 2 players for the season today - Carter Cameron-Vickers (Tottenham) and Lyndon Gooch (Sunderland & Doncaster) have both been announced as done for the season - with US Internationals coming down the pipe, this could not be worse news. Hope you get fit soon guys, we will miss you.

Andrew Wooten and Sandhausen welcomed Fafa Picault and St Pauli in Germany's 2Liga. Andrew played the full 90, while Fafa stayed on the bench - but his team St Pauli won 0 - 2

In Ukraine's Pari-Match League, Eugene Starikov started and went 83 minutes as Ch. Odessa fell 1 - 2 at home to Oleksandriya

In Germany 3Liga, Devante Parker started, went 90 as Mainz II drew 2 - 2 with Bremen

In Regionalliga Sudwest, Matt Taylor went 67 minutes as Saarbrucken won 2 - 0 over Elversberg

Also in Regionalliga Sudwest, Charlie Rugg went 63 minutes in Trier's 0 - 0 draw at Neckarelz

A battle of US/Ger dual's as Julian Ceesay and Amberg hosted FC Augsburg II and David Spies Augsburg II came away with the 3 points in a 0 2 win

In Germany's Bundesliga, John Brooks and Hertha welcome Alfredo Morales and Ingolstadt. John started and went the 90, while Alfredo (who is coming off an injury) joined the action in the 75th minute, as Ingolstadt fell 2 - 1. Hertha remain in 3rd place in Bundesliga (UCL spot)

BabaJide Ogunbiyi, started, went 90 and picked up a yellow card for Hobro as they hosted Odense in Denmark Superliga - not a good day for Hobro as they fall 0 - 2 at home

GK Paul Rachubka started for Bolton today as they visited Bristol City and got hit for 6 - you have to believe that the turmoil at Bolton is really set in with the players, and like Brad Guzan at Aston Villa (IMHO) see's so many errors in front of the goal its hard to make an impact.

GK Cody Cropper got the start today for MK Don's as they hosted Brighton. After going down by 2 goals MK Don's started their come-back - but unfortunately a red card to on MK Dons center back put an end to the come-back and MK Don's fall 1 - 2

Danny Williams started for Reading, went 90 (good to see him fit and playing a full game) as they faced Cardiff in a game that ended undecided at 1 - 1

Shane O'Neill in 18, did not play for Cambridge as they welcomed Yeovil and easily won 3 - 0

GK Brendan Moore on his 3rd start looked to keep his 3rd clean sheet as Torquay faced Southport and unbelievably he did it WOW - 3 games since joining Torquay, 3 clean sheets as Torquay win 1 - 0 - Before Brendan joined Torquay were 23rd (2nd from bottom) in the league and staring at relegation - now with 2 draws and a win in their last 3 they are off the bottom in 19th place.

USYNT Kristian Scott was in the 18, but did not play, for Nuneaton as they visited Fylde in Vanarama National League North and after a furious final 10 minutes came away with a point and a 2 - 2 draw Kristian only joined Nuneaton on March 16, so really not expected to play

Jon-Paul Pittman sat in the stands (dislocated shoulder) and watched Grimsby playing in the 2nd leg of the FA Trophy Semi-Final (brought a 1 - 0 lead into the game) beat Bognor 2 - 1 and booked their trip to Wembley Stadium for the FA Trophy Final on May 22nd against Halifax. Congrats to Grimsby & Jon-Paul

Perry Kitchen started for Hearts (went 90) as they faced off with St. Johnston in Scotland's Premier League. On the day St Johnston was just to strong and came away with 3 points in a 0 - 3 win

GK Chris Konopka in the 18 but did not play for Ross County as they fell 0 - 3 at home to Inverness in the Scottish Premier League. Chris (or any GK, must find it frustrating to be seated while your club is 'thumped')

Kevin Dzierzawski in 18 today, but sat the game out for Peterhead as they won 1 - 0 over Airdrieonians in Scotland League One.

Aston Villa GK, Brad Guzan, had a good outing last week - so this week he is the chosen one to face Swansea....but heavens Brad what an error - cost Aston Villa at least a point - but got to say Aston Villa didn't have an attack - but no excuses, Brad's error cost the game

Timothy Chandler gets the nod from coach Novak today (no minutes for a few months) as Frankfurt host Hannover in Bundesliga. Timothy went the full 90 as Frankfurt hang-on to a much needed 1 - 0 win. 5 teams now battling Bundesliga relegation, all within 1 point of each other - Hannover look done!

Patrick Tshiani started for KRC Mechelen in Belgium as they took on Torhout. Patrick went 75 minutes as KRC get the 3 points with a 2 - 0 win

GK Ciaran Nugent in his now usual position on the bench as the back-up keeper for Sligo Rangers as they took on Finn Harps in Ireland's Premier Division gave up a late goal and ended with a 1 - 1 draw - come on coach put in Ciaran

Jordan Siebatcheu in the 18 today for Reims as they played Guingamp in France Ligue 1 Jordan came off the bench at 71st minute, but was unable to impact the final score, a 0 - 1 loss.

Nantes visited Lyon today in France Ligue 1, with Alejandro Bedoya starting and going 90 minutes, picked up a yellow card along the way, as Nantes gave up a couple of late goals and sank a few places in their hope for European football next season - it's not over yet - but every point lost takes them in the wrong direction. Final: Lyon 2 - 0 Nantes.
