WEEKLY WRAP: 3.19 through 3.25.2018: We're Back - All Minor Leagues - But We Managed 9 Goals

<Editor> First up, my apologies for missing the last few weeks....personal problems have really knocked me down. I will continue to follow and report on our guys, but their maybe a few more weeks in the coming couple of months that I miss.

OK lets see what we have this week, oh right! the International Break, so no senior matches to speak of. USYNTeamers and USMNT have reduced our number of players we follow. Many of the players on the list are unknown to most, unless your hard-core, but its worth noting that our guy's in Portugal, Spain and Italy are playing fairly regularly for their clubs. Of course Germany's lower leagues remain the dominant place for our players.Denmark re-started (their lower leagues) its season this week, and Sweden starts next week, so something to look forward to

Shout Out's go to Rory McCullough who scored his first goal for Athlone in Ireland (he joined them at the beginning of March and has made the field every match since) While Anton Peterlin scored the equalizer for B93 in Denmark, and Nermin Crnkic scored the winner for troubled Erfurt in 3Liga.

OK..to the lists. As usual the short list first.......

Ian Claus - Germany
Dion Acoff - Iceland
Anton Peterlin - Denmark
Nermin Crnkic - Germany

WEEKLY WRAP: 10.9 thru 10.15.2017: Bad Week/Good News

It has not been a good week for American soccer - but its not all bad. The USMNT performance really provided a downer that was hard to swallow, but then I track US Players well known and not and realized that the future is actually not that dire. Here's a taste. In England, young US/UK dual Kyle Scott (19) made the bench in an EPL game for the first time for Chelsea, In Spain, Shaq Moore (20) was in the 18 for La Liga side Levante, and in Netherlands, Andrija Novakovich (21) continues to shine. Emmanuel Sabbi (19) is playing in Denmark's Superliga and Joshua Perez (19) in Italy's Serie C, and of course already very well known Christian Pulisic (19).  These are just some of the young US Players that have had their names mentioned for the future, (there are so many out there younger and a little older, this is just a sampling)  but it gives an idea of the potential out there, and if the USSF handles things well, the dream of great things is attainable. So there is good news out there, keep your heads up - even in the rough time we are in.

Other news, goalkeeper Jeff Gal had another shut out (I've lost count for the season) and led his team BK Forward to a league title and promotion in Sweden. Jeff is not the only goalkeeper have a breakout year, Tim Murray in Finland was on the good end of the stick in a 0 - 10 laugher that keeps his team, Honka, in the hunt for promotion to Finland;s top tier.

A couple of players re-appeared GK Josh Wicks in Sweden, Aaron Schoenfeld in Israel have both been missing from their squads with no news as to why...Eric Lichaj finally made a start for Nott's Forest. Shawn Parker back from injury in Germany played for Augsburg II in the lower leagues.

And hey! when did Slovenia become a hot-bed of US goal-scorers! 2 goals from our 2 players Kyrian Nwabueze and Theo Wilson in Slovenia

OK! enough...to the lists, short one first as usual..........

GOALS
Andrija Novakovich - Netherlands
Alfredo Morales- Germany
Etchu Tabe - Finland
Fabian Hurzeller - Germany
Toni Suddoth - Germany
Kyrian Nwabueze - Slovenia
Theo Wilson - Slovenia
Joel Sonora - Germany

SHUT OUTS
Tim Murray - Finland
Jeff Gal - Sweden
Josh Wicks - Sweden

.....and the longer, more comprehensive list......

In Finland Veikkausliiga, Brian Span (90) and Mariehamn traveled to Lahti and won 0 - 1. After a very up and down season Mariehamn are still in with a chance of Europa next season, currently sitting tied 4th (5th on GD) and their next match is against last place JJK, while Lahti, who shares 4th are playing runaway leaders HJK - could be an interesting end of season battle brewing here.

Jay Denny (90) as Newtown fall at home to Bala Town in the Welsh Premier League, in a match between 2 struggling teams

FRIDAY

GK Brandon Austin, was the backup keeper for Tottenham U23 as the hosted Leicester U23 in England's EPL2 in a match that ended in a 1 - 1 draw

Shaq Moore remained on the bench in what I believe is his first call-up for the senior squad at Levante as they visited Espanyol and forced a goalless draw in Spain's La Liga - great news we have a US Player in Spain's Top Tier.

Christian Eissele (90) and Jaro came up short at home to Josue Soto (30) and Oulu in Ykkonen, with Oulu winning 1 - 3

I guess if you are going to Shut-Out the home team, well go big! GK Tim Murray (90) and Honka throttled OPS 0 - 10 (yup Ten) to maintain the pace behind TPS Turku at the top of the league. Honka are 3 points back and play TPS Turku next weekend, in what could be the championship match. Honka have a +40 GD and would win the Ykkonen league on goals

WEEKLY WRAP: 9.18 thru 9 24.2017: 25 Goals and Still an Empty Feeling

So we had 25 goals this week, but I still feel it was not a good week...go figure. Maybe because the goals for the most part were scored in the lower leagues, and the people that you hope would score either didn't or more likely didn't play (injury or just dropped) So lets look at the outstanding performances...Andrija Novakovich continues to shine in the Netherlands, as does Christian Pulisic in Germany. Jordan Siebatcheu played twice and scored in each game in France and Gboly Ariyibi in England has finally found his scoring touch with 3 goals in 2 weeks. My favorites Gerald Ben and Isaac Kannah have been lighting up in Finland where they have scored a goal a piece in 3 matches, and are showing how a good goal scoring tandem should be. Finally young guns Timothy Weah and Romain Gall both found the back of the net.

In goal, well the headline belongs to Jeff Gal in Sweden, where he had yet another clean sheet - and yes I have lost count - as he is ensuring his team will be in the promotion hunt in the soon to be post season.

Finally my congratulations to Valur and Dion Acoff who won the Iceland Pepsideild and will now represent Iceland in next seasons Champions League - lets hope that Dion remains with Valur and we can follow them as they look for European glory

OK, that's it....to the lists. First the short list.........
