WEEKEND WRAP: Sunday 8/7/2016 Features Goals, Shut Outs and Some Tough Loses

In comparison to yesterday, its been a fine day for US Players across the pond. 4 Goalkeepers had shut outs, in Japan, Sweden and Germany, with a special shout out to Scott Angevine who has yet another shut out notched on his belt, in Finland. We had two multi-goal games, in Sweden's Superettan, where Tristan Bowen found the net twice (and Josh Wicks got a shut out) in a 5 - 0 victory, and in Sweden Division 2, where Sasa Plavsic led a storming come-back in a 7 - 3 win. Jann George opened his account in Germany, and Isaac Kannah continue his scoring ways. We also had a double Assist game when Brian Span had the assist on Mariehamn's 2 goals, and finally young Brendan Hines-Ike got the start in Sweden.  So a lot to be happy about today.

To the list;

GK Daniel Schmidt and Yamaga were held to a goalless draw by Mito in Japan's J League 2. Yamaga has to watch out, 2 draws in 2 weeks has slipped them 7 points adrift of first place Sapporo, with several teams catching them up. Officially, Daniel gets a Shut Out

In Switzerland Super League, Vaduz and Caleb Stanko visited Lugano and came away with all 3 points in a 0 - 2 win, there first win of the young season. Caleb went the 90 today

In Germany 3Liga, Marc Heider (90) started and Robbie Kristo (19) came off the bench as Osnabruck could only manage a 1 - 1 draw at home to Duisburg

Also in 3Liga, Sonnenhof (GK David Yelldell did not dress today) hosted Regensburg and Jann George (90) in an exciting game that saw 7 goals and 2 red cards, as Regensburg came back from 2 goals down to win 3 - 4. Jann Scored his first league goal of the season, that tied the game at 3 apiece

AFC United needed a win to keep pace with Sirius at the top of Superettan and our two US players provided, Tristan Bowen Scored twice (AFC's 1st and 2nd) ans GK Josh Wicks got the Shut Out as AFC thumped Varnamo 5 - 0

Royal-Dominique Fennell (in 18/DNP) just watched as Wurzburger Kickers lost at Braunschweig 2 - 1 in their opener in 2Liga

In Norway Tippeligaen, Cole Grossman (90) and Stabaek had shown some life recently after a disastrous start to the season, today they slipped back as they lost their home game to Haugesund 0 - 1. The loss denied them the chance to elevate themselves from the relegation zone.

In Sweden's Allsvenskan, Brendon Hines-Ike (90 + Yellow) got the nod with the starting 11 as Orebro visited #2 Norrkoping and fell 3 - 1

GK Adam Benn (90) gets the Shut Out as Niendorf 1 draw 0 - 0 with Rugenbergen in Oberliga (Hamburg)

Julian Ceesay (90) and Amberg visit DJK Bamberg and get a point in a goalless draw in Oberliga (Bayern Nord)

Omar Castro went 90 minutes in Braunschweig II 3 - 2 loss at Luneburger Hansa in Regionalliga (Nord)

Finland had a full schedule today with some shocking scores across the leagues

In Veikkausliiga, League leaders Mariehamn started Brian Span (61) and he rewarded his choice with 2 first half Assists. But the normally powerhouse at home Mariehamn gave up 3 2nd half goals and lost their game with cellar dwellers HIFK 2 - 5. Mariehamn still hold top spot, but now shared with HJK (@ 30 points each)

RoPS and Will John (25) had little problem with VPS as they won 2 - 0 and move into 3rd place in the league (with a game in hand over the 2 teams above them)

In Ykkonen, Jaro with Kyle Curinga (90) and Josue Soto (90) provided Ekenas GK Tim Murray with a day to forget as Jaro dismantled Ekenas 5 - 0. Jaro are still in the relegation zone, but with 1 win and 2 draws in the last 3 games are creeping to safety, and are probably feeling pretty good about their chances for survival.

Gabriel Wirtz went the full 90 in Jazz Pori's 3 - 2 win over GrIFK in a game that saw 3 changes in leads (Daniel Stevens did not dress today for GrIFK) Incidentally Jazz are bottom of the league, so with Jaro the 2 bottom teams won today

Also in Ykkonen, KTP and Isaac Kannah (90) played an amazing game against KPV and Mike Banner (90 + Yellow) with Isaac Kannah Scoring KTP's 2nd goal, they took a 4 - 0 lead, that was whittled down by KPV to 4 - 3 before KTP found the net for a 5th and put the game away 5 - 3

In Kakkonen (Group C) GK Scott Angevine (90) kept the score sheet blank with a Shut Out as YPA visited VIFK and the attack dis the rest with a 0 - 1 win. YPA who had a disastrous start to the season has now won 7 of their last 8, are well entrenched in mid-table, who knows what would be if they had started the season better

Jossimer Sanchez went 90 for Narpes Kraft, as they visited AC Kajaani, also in Group C, and were well beaten 4 - 0, the trip back home will probably be in silence. Narpes has now lost 3 of their last 4 games.

Charlie Butte (90) was on the losing side today as Burgbrohl lost 3 - 0 at Neunkirchen in Oberliga (Rheinland-Pfalz/Saar)

In Israel B.Jerusalem and Adam Sparstein were on the wrong side of a 2 - 4 scoreline. H. Beer Sheva came from behind twice, before pulling away in this Toto Cup game. B Jerusalem are out.

In Norway Tippeligaen, Alex Horvath (in 18/DNP) and Brann won their home meeting with Stromsgodset 1 - 0 - which leap-frog's them over today's visitors into 3rd place (Europa League) and 1 point behind #2 Odd

Also in Tippeligaen, Alex De John (in 18/DNP) and Start continued there slide into Obos-Ligaen (2nd tier) with a 1 - 2 home loss to Odd. With no wins this season and only 7 points from 19 games survival just does not look a possibility

Christopher Harris and Boo FK played to a goalless draw at Sollentuna in Sweden Division 2 (Norra Svealand) a pretty good result for cellar dwelling Boo FK against the league leaders

Sasa Plavsic (90) who scored earlier this week was in action today for S.Kerbura as they won 7 - 3 in Sweden's Division 2 (Norra Svealand) Leading his club back from a 1 - 3 deficit to Norrtalje Scoring 2 goals in the comeback
