Considered by most to be a US Player, Villyan Bijev has represented both USYNT U20 and Bulgaria U21. Villyan had a chance of a lifetime ruined by paperwork right at the beginning of his career. Joining Liverpool U21, from the
California Odyssey, his paperwork, which all thought would be a slam-dunk didn't work out that way, so it was the loan market, instead of cultivating his talent. Spending time at Dusseldorf in Germany, Start in Norway. Then transferring to Slavia Sofia followed by his last team Cherno More, both in Bulgaria. You would think Villyan was in mid-career, but he is only 23.
So Villyan, a native of Fresno, has returned home. After cancelling his contract with Cherno last December, Villyan has decided to try and get his career back on track and signed with USL team Portland 2, and if all goes well with the Portland MLS franchise.
