WEEKEND WRAP: Friday/Saturday/Sunday - Features 19 Goals, 2 Assists, 6 Shut Outs and Pro/Rel in Iceland

Terrific weekend for our American players. 5 players scored 2 goals, 6 goalkeepers had shut outs a total of 19 goals, with US players in action in 19 countries, yes naysayers Americans are making an impact around the world.

Iceland's lower leagues have wrapped up their seasons,  Aegir will play next season in Division 3 after finishing 11th of 12 - but will have something to build on next season as they get comfort from the fact that they were relegated on goal difference. In Inkasso-deildin Huginn find themselves in the same situation, they are relegated, on goal difference, to Division 1. On the bright side, Grindavik have gained promotion to the top tier Pepsideild, congrats to them and to the US's Will Daniels, good luck next season. With 1 game left in Pepsideild, Throttur and Daniel Acoff will be relegated  to Inkasso-deildin next season.

Finland lower leagues will end next week (so look out for that) there are tremendous battles going on both at the top and bottom of all the leagues in Finland and little will be settled until the final day.

So, the list is below, as usual the short list is directly below, and the more comprehensive list is below that (there is a lot to read this week)

Defended Ross Wallace well."

GK Paul Rachubka (in 18/DNP) and Bury were to much for Gboly Ariyibi and Chesterfield as they won 2 - 1 in England's League 1

Duane Holmes (90) finally has his first goal as he Scored for Scunthorpe as they hosted Sheffield United in what looked to be the winner, before they gave up a PK 3 minutes later. forcing a 2 - 2 draw.

Kevin Dzierzawski (84) and Peterhead fell 2 - 1 at Brechin in the Scottish League 1. Peterhead has just not hit the form of last season and wallow in the relegation zone this early season

Jochen Graf put in a 1 min performance (snark) as Oskarshamns fell 0 - 1 at home to Tvaakers in Sweden Division 1 (Sodra) - snarky comment stems from putting a player in at min 89 when you are losing - what good is that?

GK Jeff Gal (90) and Stephen Golz had little luck as Lidkopings FK visited Uddevalla and lost 2 - 1 in Sweden Division 2 (Norra Gotaland)

Josh Gatt got 66 minutes in his first start and is credited with the Assist, and GK Ethan Horvath went the full 90 as Molde fell 1 - 3 to run-away leaders Rosenborg in Norway's Tippeligaen

In Ireland's Premier League both GK Ciaran Nugent (90) and Pat McCann (90) featured for Sligo Rovers as they looked to change their fortunes with a changed line-up, as they welcomed #2 Cork City. Sligo didn't win, but they held the high flying Cork to a goalless draw. Not sure if a 0 - 0 tie warrants a Shut Out shout-out? but Ciaran gets one as this is his first start this season

SUNDAY

GK Daniel Schmidt gets the Shut Out as Yamaga win 1 - 0 at home with Shimizu in Japan J-League 2

In Germany's Junior Bundesliga (West) Weston McKennie (32) Haji Wright (80) and Schalke U19 visited Arminia Bielefeld U19 and drew 1 - 1 - Weston left the game early, but no news on if it was an injury?

In Finland's Kakkonen (Group A) PEPO and Jakeem Johnson (90 + yellow) and GK Nathan Stokie (in18/DNP) could not find a way past Kapa, falling 1 - 0 in a game that had 2 teams going in opposite direction. PEPO have lost their mojo, Kapa have picked it up

Jossimer Sanchez (90) and Narpes Kraft visited TP-47 in Kakkonen (Group C) and got a point, in a 1 - 1 draw

GK Scott Angevine (90) and YPA played to a 1 - 1 draw with PPT. YPA who started the season in such a funk have put on a 2nd half of the season worth a shout out. With just 1 game left this season YPA will end in mid-table.

Caleb Stanko was an unused sub as Vaduz visited Grasshoppers in Switzerland's Super League and lost 2 - 1. After a good start to the season things have started to go South for Vaduz

Brooks Lennon (13) came off the bench to help Liverpool U23 beat Sunderland U23 3 - 0. Today's result moves Liverpool U23 into a tie at 2nd place in England's Premier League 2

In Netherlands Eredivisie Matt Miazga (26) came off the bench in Vitesse' 2 - 1 loss at Twente. Vitesse are tied in 7th spot (last Europa League place) with 4 other teams. Good to see Matt finally getting some playing time

Rubio Rubin was an unused sub (again) in Utrecht's 2 - 0 win over Rotterdam in Eredivisie

In Finland Ykkonen, GK Tim Murray gets the Shut Out as Ekenas wins at home, 2 - 0 against GrIFK. Ekenas with 3 wins in their last 5 games should be safe as only a few games remain and they are 5 points from the drop zone

Mike Banner (90) and KPV hosted Jaro with Kyle Curinga (90) as Jaro surprised KPV winning 0 - 3 and moving to within 4 points for promotion in Ykkonen. There are only 5 points separating 1st from 4th

Eddy Prugh (90), back from a red card suspension, led Bodens to a 1 - 1 draw at league leaders Sandvikens in Sweden's Division 2 (Norrland)

Romain Gall (90) continues this weekends goal fest for Americans, Scoring Twice for Nykopings in a losing effort to Brage in Sweden's Division 1 (Norra) Romain gave his club the lead twice before they succumbed to a 75th minute goal. That's 2 straight losses.

Louis Bennett continues to wait for his chance to play as he was an unused sub as Anorthosis fell 4 - 1 at AEK Larnaca in Cyprus First Division

Paul Torres (90) and Assyriska visited Halmstad in Sweden's Superettan and came away with a point in a 2 - 2 draw, that's 5 consecutive draws for Assyriska, who need points to get out of the relegation zone

In Finland's Ykkonen, Isaac Kannah (65) came from 1 - 3 down to draw TPS Turku 3 - 3 with 2 goals in the final 10 minutes. KTP definitely playing the spoiler here as #2 TPS needed all 3 points to help catch #1 JJK. KTP themselves needed points (a win would have be excellent) to drag themselves out of the relegation zone, with just a few games left they are 1 point from escaping the drop zone

Etchu Tabe was an unused sub in Haka's 1 - 1 draw with Oulu (who are chasing TPS) in Ykkonen. Haka are likely to end the season mid-table

In Finland's Veikkausliiga, Christian Eissele was an unused sub as Kemi fell 2 - 0 at Ilves (who take over the #3 spot)

In the big game of the day (for US player followers) in Finland, RoPS (Will John did not dress today) faced Mariehamn and Brian Span (90 + yellow card) in a battle that would help Mariehamn's charge to the top (and a Champions League spot). RoPS has dropped out of contention over tha past few weeks (only 1 win in their last 5) and with just a few games left would need the 2 teams above to just collapse. Mariehamn now sits in 2nd (Europa League) 2 points out of first place and 1 point ahead of the charging Ilves with 4 games left.

Helsingborg have only won 1 game in the last 5 (1 win 4 losses)and have slipped into the relegation zone (2 points from safety) Today they faced off with #1 Malmo with a predictable result 2 - 0. GK Matt Pyzdrowski (90) kept the score reasonable. Helsingborg must now plan ahead for a beatable team Hammarby next week

For the first half Horsens looked like they would make a game of it as they visited Midtjylland in Denmark's Superliga. Connor O'Brien (71) started and it was 2 - 2 at the half....then the 2nd half happened and Horsens allowed 3 unanswered goals, ending 5 - 2 losers...there is always the next game!!

In a crazy final 10 minutes that saw 3 goals, Martin Ontiveros (90) Scored his first goal for his new club Jeunesse Esch in Luxembourg's National Division (top tier) Martin has started 4 times this young season and his first goal resulted in a 2 - 2 draw today at #2 Fola - good result

Ring the Bells!!!!! Start has won its first game this season - after 24 attempts. Alex De John (90) and Start have beaten #4 Haugesund in Norway's Tippeligaen (they would have shared 2nd with 2 other teams if they had won) 1 - 0, so they won't be going the season without a win. Of course they are still going down, but at least for one day they can smile.

In Bosnia Premier Liga, Nermin Crnkic Scored Sarajevo's 2nd goal which (at the time) put them in the lead. A 55 minute goal by home team Siroki Brijeg tied things up at 2 - 2

In Serbia Super Liga, Ismar Tandir was an unused sub as Javor visited Borac and got a point in a 1 - 1 draw

September 19, 2016

WEEKEND WRAP: Friday/Saturday/Sunday Features Goals (11) and Assists (5)

Sorry a little late with the wrap this week. Here we go, not a bad weekend, some exciting stuff in Germany's Bundesliga, as Pulisic, Johnson and Johannsson all feature in their games. Game winning goals for Shane O'Neill, Omar Castro, Harrison Hanley and Jakeem Johnson for their teams. OK I gotta do the Bundesliga bit, Christian Pulisic is amazing every one although his position as a starter is still not guaranteed, a goal and 2 assists should create a circumstance where leaving him on the bench becomes more difficult. Fabian Johnson and Aaron Johannsson faced off in a cracking game  at M;Gladbach, both players had assists, but the game also saw Aaron receive a straight red (for descent) reports on Monday am has Aaron saying that the referee mis-heard his comment - well I guess we will see how that plays out. Also in Germany, in the U19's McKinzie Gaines had himself a game for Wolfsburg U19's scoring twice and getting an assist. Unusual for American goalkeepers, no shut out's this weekend. Finally we are still waiting for Matt Miazga to get on the field at Vitesse and two players surprisingly didn't get on the pitch this weekend, DeAndre Yedlin at Newcastle and Lynden Gooch at Sunderland, BTW both of the teams lost. OK to the list, as is normal now, the short version is directly below, the long version below that;

Here's the short version;

GOALS

Shawn Parker (Germany)
Shane O'Neill (Netherlands)
Royal Fennell (Germany)
McKinzie Gaines x2 (Germany)
Christian Pulisic (Germany)
Omar Castro (Germany)
Kevin Dzierzawski (Scotland)
Aaron Schoenfeld (Israel)
Harrison Hanley (Iceland)
Jakeem Johnson (Finland)

ASSISTS

McKinzie Gaines (Germany)
Christian Pulisic x2 (Germany)
Fabian Johnson (Germany)
Aron Jóhannsson (Germany)

And here's the long version;

FRIDAY

In Finland Veikkausliga, Kemi and Christian Eissele (6) lost 3 - 1 in their away game at HIFK (HIFK are fighting possible relegation)

GK Craig Hill was on the bench (he is KuPS backup keeper) as his team fought for a 1 - 1 draw at Lahti (KuPS are sitting in 5th place , 1 point out of 3rd and a Europa League spot)

Will John entered the game at minute 58, and helped Rovaniemi (RoPS) win 1 - 0 against relegation bound PK-35. RoPS win was very important moving them into the leagues 3rd spot, in what looks like a battle that will go down to the wire for the final Europa League spot. The gap between 3rd and 6th is 1 point and the loss of any points could be fatal for participation in next seasons European contest.

A Goal-Fest at Bochum, Russel Canouse's (in 18/DNP) team exchanged goals freely with Nurnberg and Shawn Parker (27), who Scored their 4th goal, and picked up a yellow, in a 5 - 4 loss at Bochum in 2Liga

Marc Heider, who played for the opposition for many years, went 90 as Osnabruck visited Kiel and came away with a 0 - 1 win, which must satisfy Marc, and make Osnabruck happy as they move into a tie for the top spot in 3Liga.

Brandon Hines-Ike came off the bench late in a fierce 3 - 3 draw between his team Orebro and Sundsvall in Sweden's Allsvenskan. The draw did not help Orebro keep pace with the rest of the league leaders as they are now tied 4th, but 5 points adrift of a Euro spot

Sirius still dominate Sweden's Superettan, today Patrick Hopkins went 90 as his team beat Varnamo 2 - 0 extending their lead at the top of the league to 7 points

In France Ligue 2, Jordan Siebatcheu (64) and Reims held Sochaux to a 1 - 1 draw to get an away point and a shared first place in the league. Difficult to know if this is 2 points lost or 1 gained?

GK Quentin Westberg (90) was on the losing side today as Tours fell 1 - 3 to Nimes in Ligue 2 as they drop into the relegation zone

Rubio Rubin was an unused sub as Utrecht sunk deeper and continued there poor form losing 1 - 5 at home to Groningen (Desevio Payne is still not fit to play)

In Erste Divisie Shane O'Neill came off the bench at minute 75 and Scored the winner (Breda's 3rd) in NAC Breda's 2 - 4 win over Waalwijk and move into a 3-way tie for 2nd place and promotion.

In Germany's Regionalliga (Nordost) RB Leipzig's Ken Gipson (90) and USMNT Terence Boyd (90) were lucky to get a 1 - 1 draw at Babelsberg after scoring 2 minutes into extra time.

Julian Ceesay (90) and FC Amberg visited Oscar Ortiz (90) and SC Feucht in a goal-fest that had SC Feucht win 4 - 3 in Oberliga (Bayern Nord)

Charlie Rugg (28) would probably preferred to stay on the bench for Pirmisans as they were dismantled by Hoffenheim II 6 - 0 in Regionalliga (Sudwest)

In Ireland's Premier League Don Cowan (90 +1) visited Finn Harps and completed their mission 0 - 1 on an early (17) goal. This is Longford's first win since March, that's 24 games ago. Draw's have kept them alive but the team above them is on 19 points - 6 above Longford - looks like the drop for Longford and Don Cowan

SATURDAY

Andrew Wooten (66) and Sandhausen visited Braunschweig in Germany's 2Liga and lost 2 - 1 to the league leaders - who are yet to lose this season 5 for 5

Jerome Kiesewetter only played the final 8 minutes as Dusseldorf lost their first game of the season at Heidenheim in 2LIga

Mitchel Lopez went 90, as high flying BK-46 lost 2 - 0 at FC Espoo in Finland's Kakkonen (Group B)

Lawrence Smith went 90 and Chris Corcoran 13 as GBK hosted TP-47 and won without much trouble 3 - 0 in Finland Kakkonen (Group C) This is GBK's 3rd straight win

Devonte Parker (3), came on late for Mainz II in Germany's 3Liga as they fell 2 - 1 at Bremen II

Royal Fennell (90) Scored as Hallescher had to come back in the 2nd half after going down 0 - 1 to Shawn Barry (90) and FSV Frankfurt in 3Liga where the final result was a 1 - 1 draw - FSV has yet to win this season.

Jann George went 77, picked up a yellow as Regensberg had their handsful with Fortuna Koln, that was drawn on a 90+4 goal by Regensburg as they hold on at home 2 - 2

GK David Yelldell was an unused sub for Sonnenhof as they drew 2 - 2 with Aalen in 3Liga

Brian Span (90) as Mariehamn visited SJK in Finland's Veikkausliiga in a game that had more importance to Mariehamn as they battle for top spot in the league and either a Champions League or Europa League. Today they failed to gain any points losing this one 1 - 0 - that's 2 losses in the last 3 games.

McKinzie Gaines (68) Scored twice and had an Assist as Wolfburg's U19 squad visited JFV Nordwest in Junior Bundesliga (Nordwest) That's 5 goals in 3 games for McKinzie

Alassane Kane went 90 for Bayern Hof as they fall at home 1 - 2 to Greuther Furth II in Regionalliga (Bayern)

Julian Green was an unused sub for Bayern and Alfredo Morales went 63 minutes for Ingolstadt in a 3 - 1 home victory for Bayern

In what is the biggest US Player story of the day, Christian Pulisic (90) Scored and had 2 Assists as Dortmund throttled Darmstadt 6 - 0. Christian receives MOTM from most sites and from what I saw of the game he deserved it - is it time to move from hype to belief??

Timothy Chandler (90 + yellow) had himself a day for Frankfurt, giving up an 87th minute PK (that Chicharito missed) to Leverkusen that would have tied the game - but with the miss Frankfurt held on to win 2 - 1

RB Leipzig were all over Bobby Wood (83 + yellow) and Hamburg as they handed them a painful home defeat 0 - 4. For those wondering Terence Boyd and Ken Gipson played on Friday for the RBL reserves

In England's Championship, Danny Williams (90 + yellow) and Reading visited Barnsley and came away with all 3 points in a 1 - 2 win

DeAndre Yedlin watched Newcastle fall 0 - 2 at home to Wolves in a game that saw Newcastle give up an OG and suffer a Red Card - Benitez needs Yedlin (IMHO)

Eric Lichaj (90) and Nottingham fell 1 - 2 at home to Norwich,  as they, Norwich battles to return to the EPL

Gboly Ariyibi went 90 in Chesterfield's convincing 3 - 0 win over Northampton in England League 1

Duane Holmes played the first half as Scunthorpe visited Shrewsbury and took all 3 points in a 0 - 1 win. Scunthorpe are now on top of the standings with a game in-hand

GK Paul Rachubka took his normal spot on the bench, as back-up, and watched as his team Bury beat host Swindon 1 - 2 in England League 1

Not a good day for GK Brendan Moore as Torquay visited Boreham Wood and lost 2 - 0 in England's National League

Jon-Paul Pittman (90) started for Harrogate as they visited Bridlington in the 2nd (Qualifying) round of the FA Cup. the game ended 1 - 1 with a replay in the week - but it shows if you don't take your opposition seriously you can be in for a shock

Will Daniels went 90 for Grindavik as they visited Akureyri in Iceland Inkasso-deildin and fell 2 - 1 after leading for most of the match. Akureyri are running away with the league at this point, unbeaten in their last 7

JC Mack went 90 for Selfoss as they visited GK Will Dieterich and Haukar in a game that end in a 1 - 1 draw

Johnatan Lama (21) and Huginn continue their disappointing season with a 0 - 4 loss to Kopavogur. Huginn are just 3 points above the drop zone and really need some points and some luck

Omar Castro Scored Braunschweig II's first (and winning) goal as they visited Lupo Martini Wolfsburg and came away 0 - 2 winners

Matt Nigro (90) and Vestri just didn't have it today as they are well beaten at Grotta 4 - 0 in Iceland Division 2

Jannik Eckenrode (90) and Danial Kuczynski (84) were on the losing side as Aegir fell 4 - 2 at Volsungur in Iceland Division 2

In Scotland's Premier League Bjorn Johnsen (72) got his first start and Perry Kitchen went 90 as Hearts fall 1 - 0 at St Johnstone as both teams now share 2nd place in the league.

Kevin Dzierzawski gave Peterhead a 0 - 2 lead after he Scored at Stenhousemuir. Unfortunately Peterhead could not hold the lead and ended having to be satisfied with a 2 - 2 draw, in Scotland's Championship

Andrew Stadler joined the action in the 60th minute, but could not help his team Ostersunds as they are beaten 2 - 0 at Kalmar after giving up 2 goals in 2 minutes, in Sweden;s Allsvenskan

GK Josh Wicks (90) and AFC hit a bump in the road at GAIS in the Superettan as they drew 1 - 1 - AFC are still in the hunt for promotion, but are a point off automatic promotion spot and may need to play a play-off to get there

GK Jeff Gal and Stephen Golz found themselves on the losing side as Lidkopings lost their home game 1 - 2 to Rynninge IK in Sweden's Division 2 (Norra Gotaland)

A game leading Score from Aaron Schoenfeld did not hold up as H Tel Aviv gave up 3 goals in a 3 - 3 draw with Shmona, in Israel's Ligat ha'Al

Jordan Tyler (90) and Hottur were totally embarrassed by Afturelding 7 - 2 in Iceland Division 2 as Hottur's season is skidding out of control

Fabian Johnson (85) had an Assist for M' Gladbach as they hosted Aron Jóhannsson (36 + Assist + RED card) As M' Gladbach dominates in first half, with 4 goals - the game ended 4-1. Evidently the Iceman melted down and was sent off for dissent

GK Ethan Horvath and Molde fall 1 - 0 at Viking in Norway's Tippeligaen. Josh Gatt was in the 18, but did not play. Molde are slowly falling out of contention for the final Europa League spot.

Hunter Gorskie (in 18/DNP) as Legnica failed to hold on to a 2 goal lead at home to Katowice in a game that ended 2 - 2 in Poland Division 1

GK Danny Rogers had a solid outing as Falkirk, who have now won 3 straight, defeated Dundee United 3 - 1 in Scotland's Championship. Falkirk now tied for 3rd place

The new normal for Brad Guzan, in 18/DNP. as Middlesborough were dismantled by Everton 3 - 1 in the English Premier League

Johnathan Spector (90) as Birmingham beats Sheffield Wednesday 2 - 1 in the English Championship putting them into the top 6 (tied 3rd with 2 other teams) Good result for Birmingham

Harrison Hanley (90+5) Scored Njardvik's only goal as they draw 1 - 1 with visitors KF in Iceland Division 2. Njardvik had trailed 0 - 1 for most of the game, until Harrison's goal saved the point

Robbie Kristo played in the Osnabruck Oberliga squad today going 70 minutes in their 1 - 1 draw at Cloppenburg

Louis Bennett III is still trying to get his debut in, as he was in 18 for the 3rd week in a row, but DNP for Anorthosis in Cyprus First Division. Today they drew 2 - 2 with Zakakiou. Anorthosis have yet to lose this (early) season and sit in 6th spot.

Matt Miazga (in 18/DNP) sits out another game at Vitesse as they win 2 - 0 over GA Eagles in the Eredivisie

SUNDAY

GK Daniel Schmidt (90) and Yamaga are still on pace for promotion despite a 'blip' today in a 1 - 1 draw at Kusatsu. Sitting in 2nd place of Japan's J-League 2 and with teams closing in on them, every point is critical

In Finland, Jakeem Johnson Scored the winning goal for PEPO as the hosted MPS in Kakkonen (Group A) and won 2 - 1. At my reckoning that's 14 Goals in 11 Games for Jakeem

In (Group C) Kakkonen, Jossimer Sanchez went 90 as Narpes Kraft beat GK Scott Angevine and YPA 3 - 1 in a mid-table battle. YPA has now lost 3 straight

In Finland's Ykkonen, Mike Banner was an unused sub as KPV were held to a goalless draw by Oulu. Only 6 points separates #5 KPV from the #1 spot held by JJK

In Germany Junior Bundesliga (Sud) Toni Suddoth went 90 as Stuttgart U19 visited cross-town Stuttgart Kickers in a game that ended 1 - 1, on a 90th minute Kickers goal

In Junior Bundesliga (West) Haji Wright was subbed out at 90 minutes and Weston Mckennie went 90 and picked up a yellow as Schalke U19 beat Dortmund U19 2 - 1

In Denmark Division 1, Babajide Ogunbiy (90 + Yellow) and Hobro were well beaten, as they visited Fremad Amager, 4 - 1. Hobro has slipped a little, down to 4th place

In Sweden's Allsvenskan, GK Matt Pyzdrowski had a rare appearance as Helsingborg fell 1 - 2 at home to #1 Norrkoping. As it stands, Helsingborg will have to play a Rel/Pro play-off to stay in Sweden's top flight

The least said the better about Stoke and Geoff Cameron, now firmly at the bottom of the EPL and based on performances so far this season, likely to stay there. Today's happy opponent was Crystal Palace who whipped Stoke 4 - 1

George Fochive (90 + yellow) and Viborg visited #1 Brondby in Denmark SuperLiga and came away with all 3 points in a 1 - 2 win, on an 81st minute OG

Dallas Aminzadeh came off the bench at 72minutes to help Oldenburg in their 3 - 0 win over Egestorf-Langreder in Germany's Regionalliga (Nord) Oldenburg played most of the 2nd half with 10 men

Paul Torres (90 + yellow) as Assyriska take on IK Frej in Sweden Superettan in a game that ended goalless

Jochen Graf was an unused sub as Oskarhamns falls 3 - 1 to Oddevold in Sweden Division 1

Really surprised that Lynden Gooch was an unused sub as Sunderland visited Tottenham in the EPL and lost 1 - 0

Daniel Stephens went 90 as GrIFK were beaten at home 1 - 2 by TPS Turku in Finland's Ykkonen

Gabriel Wirtz was an unused sub (1st game back after injury) as Jazz Pori played to a 1 - 1 draw with KTP and Isaac Kannah (90) - Both teams are in the relegation zone

Conor O'Brien (90) and Horsens lost ground today as they fell 0 - 2 to #1 FC Copenhagen in Denmark Superliga

GK Alex Horwath (90) and #2 Brann visited Bodo/Glimt in Norway's Tippeligaen and came away with a 1 - 3 win that keeps pace at the top of a very tight league battle

Also in Tippeligaen Stabaek with Cole Grossman (90) visited Odd and won 0 - 1 Stabaek are now 2 points away from escaping the relegation zone

When the league top team meets the bottom team the out-come is pretty much decided before a kick of the ball, so no surprise that Start and Alex De John (90) were defeated at #1 Rosenborg 2 - 0 in Norway's Tippeligaen (Rosenborg are 18 points clear at the top, Start are bottom and 50 points behind them)

WEEKEND WRAP: Amazing Friday, Saturday, Sunday - Features (13) Goals, (6) Shut Outs, (6) Assists

An amazing 3 days of soccer by our lads in Europe and around. 13 Goals (at last count) 6 Assists and 6 Shut Outs. The big news, I guess is Bobby Wood's goal, his 2nd in 2 games, and of course the Iceman Aron Johannson back as a started for Bremen scored from a PK - I watched the game and he was truly ice-cold on the kick, finally DeAndre Yedlin got off the mark as well at Newcastle. Elsewhere our USYNTeamers were going great guns, Haji Wright scoring and Weston McKennie with an assist in a U19 game for Schalke, Romain Gall scored again in Sweden as well as Mukwelle Akeale getting a goal and an assist in Spain for the Villarreal C squad and Kyle Scott got an assist for Chelsea in EPL2. Daniel Schmidt continues to get shut outs for Yamaga in Japan, and Brendan Moore finally gets his first since joining Torquay full time. Finally we had 2 lesser known players who both scored twice for their teams and deserve a shout-out. Alassane Kane scored for Bayern Hoff in Germany and Kyrian Nwabueze scored his brace for Ararat in Armenia. OK to the list

KuPS with GK Craig Hill (in 18) defeated 2nd place visitors Mariehamn and Brian Span (87 ) 2 - 1 a result that moves KuPS up to 3rd and pings Mariehamn's attack on 1st place in the league. Mariehamn are 4 points out of 1st place and have a game in hand, as they make their charge.

In Norway Tippeligaen, GK Alex Horwath was on the bench as Brann drew 0 - 0 with Viking - the result hurts Brann in an extremely contested league, where 2 points separate #2 Brann from #6 Sarpsborg - Brann cannot be dropping points at this stage especially at home

In Bundesliga, Aron Johannsson, seemingly back in form following his long term injury, stamped his return in his 2nd game, with an ice cold PK Goal, the score putting Bremen in the lead going in at half-time. In Iceland Division 2, an exciting goal-fest between Vestri and Matt Nigro (28) and Afturelding. It looked like it would be a low scoring affair with a 0 - 0 half-time. But then it got wild with 6 goals in the 2nd half and a 3 - 3 final score, as the the teams traded goals for the last 40 minutes.

In Cyprus First Division, Louis Bennett II was in the 18 again today - he didn't make the field, but its good to see him in the mix. Anorthosis won this game at Aris 1 - 2 starting the season with 4 points from a possible 6

So we have a reduced schedule this weekend with the International break, but a few games in the lower leagues produced some goals, a shut-out etc. and a bunch of American's plying their trade. That in mind not a whole lot to write as an introduction, and straight to the list;

The short version first;
GOALS
Eddy Prugh (Sweden)
Jon-Paul Pittman x2 (England)
Lawrence Smith (Finland)
Aris Briggs Zustra (Germany)
Sasa Plavsic x2 (Sweden)

SHUT-OUTS
Bakary Sanyang (Germany)

The full list of players and action;

FRIDAY

Alassane Kane came off the bench (62) as Bayern Hof lost at home 1 - 3 to Memmingen in Germany's Regionalliga (Bayern)

In Poland Division 1, Hunter Gorskie was an unused sub in Legnica's 2 - 0 win over Chojniczanka

Ryan Malone (90) started for Stuttgart Kickers as they came back with an 86th minute goal to draw Ulm 3 - 3 in Regionalliga (Sudwest)

Oscar Ortiz went 80 minutes as SC Feucht beat Frohnlach 2 - 1 in Oberliga (Bayern Nord)

In Sweden Division 2 (Norra Gotaland) GK Jeff Gal and Stephan Golz, both went 90 minutes as Lidkopings FK visited Skoftebyns IF and came away with a point after an 89th minute goal gave them a 2 - 2 draw

Charlie Rugg came off the bench with 20 minutes left and helped his team Pirmasens win their home game 2 - 1 over FC Astoria in Regionalliga (Sudwest)

SATURDAY

In Sweden Division 2, Eddy Prugh Scored again, as Bodens visited Skelleftea FF and lost this one 3 - 1 after Eddy had tied things up a 1 - 1

In Finland's Ykkonen, Etchu Tabe (90) and Haka hosted Mike Banner (26) and KPV in a game that KPV should have won, but, they allowed 2 goals in the final 3 minutes, that gave Haka a 3 - 2 win (Haka break a 2 loss run, while KPV are now in a 2 game spin)

In Finland Kakkonen (Group A) both Jakeem Johnson and GK Nathan Stokie went 90 for PEPO as they visited JaPS and came away with a 1 - 1 draw and the point

Mitchel Lopez (90) and BK 46 had no answers today as they visited FC Honka, in Kakkonen (Group B) and left humbled by a 5 - 1 loss

In Oberliga (Rheinland-Pfalz/Saar) GK Bakary Sanyang (90) got the Shut Out for Pfeddersheim as they won their home game 2 - 0 over FSV Salmrohr

In England League One, Gboly Ariyibi (90) and Chesterfield could not hold on to their first half lead, as they visited Wimbledon and lost 2 - 1

GK Paul Rachubka was an unused sub (he is the back-up GK) as Bury, buried Port Vale 4 - 1, after a stellar 3 - 0 first half. Its Bury's first win since the season opener

2 Goals Scored by Jon-Paul Pittman, 6 minutes apart gave Harrogate the first half lead as they hosted Curzon Ashton in England's National League North. Unfortunately Harrogate could not hold their lead and drew this one 2 - 2 (Harrogate are still unbeaten this season, and sit in 2nd place)

Emerson Hyndman went 90 in Bournemouth's 1 - 2 loss to AC Milan in a friendly

Julian Ceesay went 90 as Amberg visited Alemannia Haibach and lost 3 - 1 in Oberliga (Bayern Nord)

In Iceland Inkasso-deildin, Will Daniels came off the bench at minute 84 to help his team Grindavik win their home game 1 - 0 against Fjardabyggd and take the top spot in the league - Grindavik 41 points and Akureyri 40 points look a safe bet for promotion, as they are 10 points+ clear of the 3rd place team.

In Iceland Division 2, Daniel Kuczynski (79) and Jannik Eckenrode (18) helped Aegir win their home game against KV 1 - 0 which pulled them even with KV in the battle to stay relevant in Icelandic soccer as they climb out of the relegation zone

In Portugal, Segunda Liga, Keaton Parks (3) made his debut, off the bench, for Varzim as they lost at home to
Desportivo Aves 0 - 2 This was Keaton first appearance, although he has been on the bench 3 times this season.

Harrison Hanley (79) and Njardvik visited #2 Afturelding and played to a goalless draw - not a bad result for Njardvik

Jordan Tyler (90) and Hottur visited Magni in Iceland Division 2 and came away with a 0 - 1 win on a late 90 +5 goal

Kevin Dzierzawski (120) and Peterhead had already shocked Dundee United with a win at their last meeting, and they took it down to the wire today as they lost 3 - 2 in ET (116) after battling back from a (-1 minute) Dundee goal that opened the game in Scotland's Challenge Cup

GK Danny Rogers (who is a dual US/Ire) played for Ireland's U21 (clean sheet) yesterday so was not available for Falkirk's 6 - 1 win over Elgin City today in the Scottish Challenge Cup

In Sweden Division 1 (Norra) Romain Gall went 84 as Nykopings BIS won their home match v Vasteras SK 2 - 1 - that's 2 wins in a row for Nykopings who still trail Vasteras by 2 points

Christopher Harris played the first half as Boo FK fell 1 - 0 at Varmdo in Sweden Division 2 (Norra Svealand)

JC Mack went 90, as Selfoss visited league leaders Akureyri and fell 1 - 0 in Iceland Inkasso-deildin

A late, late goal by Lincoln City beat GK Brendan Moore and Torquay 1 - 2 as they drop home points

SUNDAY

In Germany, Regionalliga (Nord) Omar Castro (90 + Yellow) and Braunschweig II visited SV Eichede and came away with all the points in a 0 - 1 win - these are Braunschweig II's first points of the season, in 6 attempts

In Oberliga (Hamburg), GK Adam Benn (90) and Niendorf 1 hosted VFL Pinneberg 1, and won 2 - 1 to break a 3 game losing streak

In Finland Ykkonen, GK Tim Murray (90) and Ekenas fell 1 - 2 at home to Jazz Pori. Ekenas are now just 1 point above the relegation zone

In Finland Kakkonen (Group C) Narpes Kraft and Jossimer Sanchez (90) had no trouble dismantling FC Santa Claus 5 - 0 (GK Tyler Back was dropped from Santa Claus following last week 6 - 0 drubbing - seems that their problem is a lot bigger than at GK) Narpes now have a 4 game unbeaten streak going

Lawrence Smith (90) Scored and GBK went on to win their home game against PPT 3 - 1. GBK are in 4th, but maybe just a little to far behind to expect a shot at promotion this season

GK Scott Angevine (90 + Yellow) and YPA had a tough first half, in a game that had 7 goals and 2 red cards, despite the fight back, YPA fell 4 -3 at Hercules in Finland Kakkonen (Group C)

Some days are best forgotten, Jochen Graf (56) and Oskarshamns had a day like that today, visiting Landskrona and being thumped 4 - 0 in Sweden Division 1 (Sodra)

Charlie Butte started, went 90 as Burgbrohl got well beaten at Koblenz in Oberliga (Rheinland-Pfalz/Saar) 4 - 0

Aris Briggs Zustra, Scored and Osnabruck II won their game at Heeslinger 0 - 2 in Oberliga (Niedersachsen)

In Finland's Ykkonen, GrIFK won 2 - 0 over KTP despite a RED Card from Daniel Stevens. Issac Kannah went 90 for KTP in this game as GrIFK pulled out of the relegation zone with the win, and KTP stayed put and in trouble

In Sweden Division  2 (Norra Svealand) Sasa Plavsic Scored 2 goals (1 PK) as S. Kerbura hosted Karlbergs and were defeated 2 - 6. After a pretty good season S.Kerbura has hit a bad-spot losing 3 straight, but still sit in 6th spot.
