WEEKEND WRAP: Friday/Saturday/Sunday - Features 7 Goals, 2 Assists, 4 Shut Outs

Well, not the output we have seen over the past few weeks, but an eventful weekend nevertheless. Joe Gyau makes an appearance for Dortmund II, Josh Gatt scores his first in nearly 2 years, and Bobby Wood sees red (was that really deserving of a straight red?) Lot's of Pro/Rel stuff going on in Scandinavia (as well as Euro spots). Then on Friday we learned that  Ex Tulsa Roughnecks forward, Kyrian Nwabueze was cut by Ararat in Armenia.

With Americans playing in 16 countries this is quite a bit of reading to do for this weekend wrap, or you can just check out the short list below

In Ireland's Premier Division, Pat McCann (90) and GK Ciaran Nugent (90) Plus he gets the Shut Out in Sligo Rovers 5 - 0 dismantling of Wexford in the final game of the season. Sligo, who did not start the season to well end up 5th - not to shabby, all things considered

Also in Ireland's Prem. Don Cowan went 90, as Longford fell 2 - 4 to #4 Shamrock Rovers in their last game of the season....One more game to go - a Play-off to survive relegation

SATURDAY

Jerome Kiesewetter (89 + yellow) Justin Kinjo (in 18/DNP) and Dusseldorf traveled to #2 Union Berlin and came away with all the points as they won 0 - 1 in Germany 2Liga. That's 3 wins in a row, and a 3rd spot in the table for Dusseldorf

Romain Gall (90) and Nykopings failed to hold #1 Brommapojkarna at home and fell 0 - 1 in Sweden Division 1 (Norra) Nykopings is going through a rough patch right now, 5 points from their last 5 games

In England's Premier League, Lyndon Gooch came off the bench at minute 84, by which time Sunderland were already down 1 - 4 to Arsenal. I guess a few minutes is better than nothing, but manager David Moyes seems a little lost for ideas right now and his decision to bring in Lyndon at that point seemed desperate

In Denmark Division2 (Group 1) Anton Peterlin (82) and B93 ended their game with Avarta goalless. B93 remain in the 'promotion group' with 20 points, Avarta lead the group.

Also in the promotion group in Denmark are Bronshoj and Jamil Fearrington (90) who beat Fredensborg 3 - 0 to maintain their #3 spot in Denmark's Division 1 (Group 1)

In Germany 3Liga, Shawn Barry (90 + yellow) and FSV Frankfurt made short-work of Paderborn as they won 3 - 0. That's 4 wins in the last 5 games for FSV, as they charge up the table.

In a game filled with American's, Royal Fennell (90) and Hallescher hosted Marc Heider (90 + yellow) Robbie Kristo (90) and Osnabruck with the advantage going to the home team, as Hallescher win's this one 1 - 0. Hallescher are unbeaten in their last 5, and sit tied 3rd, with 2 other teams)

GK Kenneth Kronholm (90) and Kiel visited Munster, and grabbed a point in a 1 - 1 draw in 3Liga

Jann George (88) and Regensburg held on for a 1 - 1 draw at home to Magdeburg, also in 3Liga

Devante Parker (11) came off the bench as Mainz II traveled to Rostock and stole a point in a 1 - 1 draw

GK David Yelldell was replaced at minute 79 (?Injury) and Sonnenhof hung on for a goalless draw against visitors #1 Duisburg in 3Liga

In Junior Bundesliga (Sud/Sudwest) Corey Anton came off the bench at minute 79 as Kaiserslautern U19 hosted Toni Suddoth (57) and Stuttgart U19 and had a comfortable home win 3 - 0 against the visitors

GK Brad Guzan watched Middlesbrough from the bench as they beat Bournemouth 2 - 0 in the English Premier League (Emerson Hyndman was not in Bournemouth's 18, again, today)

Cameron Carter-Vickers was in the 18/DNP for Tottenham as they drew 1 - 1 with Leicester City in the EPL

Tim Ream came off the bench at minute 81 as Fulham thumped Huddersfield 5 - 0 in the English Championship

DeAndre Yedlin (90) was subbed out at 90+5 as Newcastle continued their winning ways (have won last 5) at Preston with a 1 - 2 win. Newcastle are 3 points clear at the top of the table

Danny Williams (90 + yellow) and Reading hosted Eric Lichaj (90) and Nottingham and held their home advantage in a 2 - 0 win. Reading move into the top 6 and Nottingham find themselves hovering above the drop-zone.

Gboly Ariyibi (90) and Chesterfield traveled to Charlton in England's League One, and fell 1 - 0. Chesterfield have now lost 5 straight and find themselves 1 point off the bottom (4 points from safety). They need to regain last years form if they are going to survive

GK Paul Rachubka was in his 'stand-by' position on the bench for Bury, as they lost 3 - 2 at Northampton in League One

Duane Holmes (90) Scored Scunthorpe's 2nd goal (technically the winner) as they find little problem with visiting Swindon in a 4 - 1 win in England League One. Scunthorpe are having a great season, and are 3 points ahead at the top of the League.

GK Brendan Moore (90) and Torquay looked on the way to a win in the first half, up a goal at home. The 2nd half was not good though, a red card and 2 goals by Southport saw the home team fall 1 - 2 in England national League

In a thriller in Scotland's Premier League, Perry Kitchen (90 + yellow) Bjorn Johnsen (76) and Hearts traveled to Inverness and battled to a 3 - 3 draw, with Bjorn Johnsen Scoring Hearts opening goal. Hearts had started the season really well, but have recently hit a rough patch, this game will give them some confidence going forward - they retain 3rd spot (shared with 2 other teams) and are only a point behind #2 Rangers

GK Danny Rogers (90) and Falkirk visited Dundee Utd. in Scotland's Championship, and fell 1 - 0 on an 82nd minute strike. Falkirk are just out-side the promotion play-off group

Peterhead are finally finding their form, with their 3rd straight win. Kevin Dzierzawski went 77 minutes in their 2 - 0 win over Stranraer in Scotland League One.

In Sweden's Superettan, its looking really good for the top two teams, both with Americans, as AFC Utd. win today and move 7 points ahead of Halmstad who have crashed, losing their last 2 games. By my reckoning, AFC United are promoted - they have 1 game left at Halmstad. Sirius has already made the jump(promotion) into the top tier next season. Today GK Josh Wicks (90) gets the Shut Out, Tristan Bowen was in the 18/DNP and AFC united won this one 3 - 0 against Atvidabergs

Hunter Gorskie came off the bench for the final 20 minutes as Legnica traveled to Tychy and won 0 - 2 in Poland's Division 1. Legnica break a 2 game losing streak

GK Justin vom Steeg (90) for Dusseldorf II as they fall 1 - 2 at home to Oberhausen in Regionalliga (West)

Shaq Moore went 90 in Levante UD B team as they drew 0 - 0 with Sabadell in Spain's Segunda Division B - (Group 3)

Aris Briggs Zustra went 90 in a goalless draw as Osnabruck II visited Hannover in Oberliga (Niedersachsen)

In the Bundesliga late game Christian Pulisic went 90 as Dortmund played to a goalless draw with Schalke. That's 3 straight draws, as Dortmund slip down the table Note to team: Must do better

Eric Lickert started for Freiburg II as they fell 1 - 0 at Neckarsulmer in Oberliga (Baden-Württemberg)

Matt Miazga went 90 as Vitesse fell 0 - 2 to PSV in Netherlands Eredivisie. This is Matt's 6th start, 5 League, 1 Cup, since his loan from Chelsea

GK Jeff Gal (90) Stephen Golz (90) and Lidkopings FK won their relegation 2nd leg match against Vanersborg 2 - 1. The aggregate score was 2 - 2 and Lidkopings FK are relegated on the away goals rule. Stephen Golz scored Lidkopings first goal, but the team will be playing in Division 3 next season.

SUNDAY

While you were sleeping, Matthew Wiesenfarth started for Canterbury United in New Zealand's Premier League as they visited Southern United and won 1 -3

GK Daniel Schmidt, who missed last weeks game, is back in the net for Yamaga in Japan League 2 as they visit Yamagata in one of the last games of the season. Things are tight at the top of the table so a win is important, Yamaga ended this one 0 - 1 and move within 3 points of top spot, and draw away from the #3 team by three points. Daniel Schmidt is back and gets a Shut Out for his team

Haji Wright and Weston McKennie both started for Schalke U19 as they traveled to FC Koln in Junior Bundesliga (West) and let one slip away, as they gave up a late goal, with the game ending 1 - 1

Babajide Ogunbiyi (90) and Hobro had a fun day as they visited Vendsyssel in Denmark's 1st Division and came away with a 0 - 4 win. Hobro are now 6 points clear at the top of the league

GK Benjamin Machini was in the 18 for Barakaldo in Spain's Segunda Division B (Group 2) as they went to Mensajero and came away with a point, that moves them into 4th place, and extends their unbeaten run to 5 games

Nermin Crnkic was rocking today as he led Sarajevo over Celik Zenica 4 - 0. Nermin Crnkic Scored 2 goals as the home team had no problem with the last place Zenica

Connor O'Brien (90) and Horsens visited Sonderjyske in Denmark's Superliga and hit a brick wall, falling 2 - 0. Sonderjyske has been on a bit of a run lately (4 wins out of 5) and have now jumped over Horsens in the league

Johnathan Spector (90) and Birmingham had a job on their hands today as they faced Aston Villa in a game that had the home team fighting back, for a 1 - 1 draw in the English Championship. Birmingham sit just outside the top six (on GD)

In Germany 2Liga, Russell Canouse went 90 as Bochum won their home match against Heidenheim

Sammy Adjai came off the bench with 10 minutes left in the game and helped Naestved win 1 - 2 over Nykobing in Denmark Division 1. This was Naestved's 2nd straight win and pulls them just above the drop zone

Caleb Stanko (70) and Vaduz were pummeled 5 - 0 today at Young Boys in Switzerland's Super League. Vaduz are now at the bottom of the table.

Rubio Rubin was on the bench again for Utrecht, who needed an own goal by visitors Nijmegen to get secure a 1 - 1 home draw

Dallas Aminzadeh went 90 as Oldenburg hosted Hansa in Regionalliga (Nord) and won 1 - 0

John Brooks went 90 as Hertha visited Hoffenheim in Bundesliga, and lost 1 - 0. Hoffenheim with 5 consecutive wins jumps over Hertha into 3rd place in Bundesliga. Hertha have been a little shaky lately and need to find their mojo again

Ismar Tandir was an unused sub for Javor as they traveled to FK Vozdovac in the Serbian Super Liga and won 1 - 2

Paul Torres (90) as Assyriska FF win 1 - 0 over Varnamo in Sweden's Superettan. With the win, Assyriska helped themselves, and are now in a position to lock-in a Play-off possibility to stay in Superettan next season

Keaton Parks went 65 for Varzim as they lose 2 - 1 to Penafiel in Portugal's Segunda Liga. It should be noted that when defender Keaton left the game Varzim were up 0 - 1, and gave up 2 goals in 15 minutes..the loss drops Varzim into the relegation zone (but there is plenty of time to battle out)

Jochen Graf was an unused sub as Oskarshamns visit Trollhattan in Sweden's Division 1 (Sodra) and grab a point in a 1 - 1 draw. The draw make things interesting - with 1 game left, next week, Oskarshamns are 2 points above the drop zone with 3 teams that can pass them with wins (1 can tie them with a draw) so next weeks game at home to QViding is critical, a draw may not do it

Nicholas Edginton (90) for Samorin as they visited Sered in Slovakia 2Liga (West) and lost by 1 - 0. USA Coach Mike Keeney felt that the early goal - 4th minute - really effected the games out-come. Disappointment for Samorin, who have been struggling after a good start (only 1 point from last 5 games) but they still sit in 5th place (only 1 point out of 3rd!)

A Bobby Wood Red Card, on a weak call, hammered the nail into Hamburg's chances as they fall 3 - 0 at FC Koln. Hamburg who are entrenched at the bottom of Bundesliga and still without a win, had held FC Koln scoreless up to Bobby's sending off, but 3 minutes later the floodgates opened as FC Koln pressed home their advantage

With one game left this season, Helsingborg fired on all cylinders to win 1 - 4 at bottom placed Falkenbergs. GK Quentin Westberg was back between the posts.

Helsingborg are currently 3rd from bottom in the relegation Play-off spot. Gefle who are on a charge below them are 2 points behind and mathematically can pass them. Next, and last game of the season, for both teams will decide the outcome. Gefle must visit 9th place Ostersunds (who have won their last 2) but Gefle are on a run and have not lost in their last 5 - should be an interesting game. Helsingborg will host twelfth place Jonkopings, a game that could go either way. Certainly it seems that Helsingborg has a slight edge going into the final game

Norway's Tippeligaen was pretty exciting today. Josh Gatt (80) Scored his first goal in 2 years as Molde won their next to last game 3 - 0 over hapless Stabaek and Cole Grossman (90).

Molde cannot gain European football next season, the best they can do is 4th place. Stabaek are still in a relegation battle. They face even more hapless Start at home next week, so 3 points is a real possibility, and they will need them to aid their escape. Places 12 thru 15 are all battling to stay in the top tier Stabaek seems to have an advantage over Bodo/Glimt who will travel to #1, and UCL bound, Rosenborg, Tromso will host #3 Odd, who need to win to put a claim on 2nd place, and Lillestrom will welcome (maybe) Molde. Stabaek who have a -10 GD will need to win by at least 2 goals (depending on other outcomes) to even sniff a chance at remaining in the top tier

In the other Tippeligaen game of (USA) interest, Alex De John (90) and last place, Start could not hold-out against #2 Brann at home, and lost 1 - 2. GK Alex Horvath was in the 18 but did not play today. #2 Brann and #3 Odd are only separated by GD going into the final week, they will both represent Norway in the Europa League next season

WEEKEND WRAP: Friday/Saturday/Sunday - Features (12) Goals, (3) Assists, & (3) Shut-Outs

Pretty impressive weekend, with Americans playing in 16 country's while scoring 12 goals, getting 3 assists and 3 shut-outs. When you consider that quite a few of the 'lower' leagues where we have a substantial presence have completed their seasons, we have a ton of players out there, everywhere!

I'll start with a big shout out to Brian Span and Mariehamn who have won Finland' Veikkausliga and assuming Brian is still there next season he  will be playing Champions League football - congrats to him and his team.

There are a couple of Scandinavian leagues that will complete this coming week, we have a handful of teams with US players that are vying for Euro spots, and others for promotion or unfortunately relegation - we'll see over the next 10 days or so how all that shakes out.

Christian Pulisic - OK I'm a believer!

A couple of new American players have joined Canterbury United in New Zealand's Premier League, forward Matt Wiesenfarth and GK Kris Schultz. The New Zealand Prem. started play this weekend and Matt had an assist in his first game

In today's Big Bundesliga match-up, Bobby Wood, who played the 2nd half, and Hamburg suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of Timothy Chandler (90 + yellow) and Frankfurt. Hamburg had an own goal and a red card, and never recovered from either, losing 0 - 3 at home. With just 2 draws in 8 games, Hamburg are already falling behind in Bundesliga. Frankfurt 2 wins 2 draw and 1 loss in their last 5 are sitting in 4th place (ahead of Hertha on GD)

Bad day for Birmingham and Jonathan Spector (90) as they visited Burton in the English Championship and lost 2 - 0. Not the end-of-the-world, but with 8 points separating 1st from 7th, any dropped points (Burton were in 18th prior to today) could have ramifications later in the season.

In Ireland's Premier League things look great in the 1st half for GK Ciaran Nugent (90) and Pat McCann (90) who Scored Sligo Rovers only goal just before the end of the half, Sligo took the lead into the locker room - the 2nd half did not live up to the 1st and Sligo allowed 2 unanswered goals and fall 2 - 1 to Derry City. Sligo Rovers have been on a roll lately, this loss breaks a run of 5 unbeaten.

Ryan Malone went 67 and picked up his 4th yellow of the season as Stuttgart Kickers fell 2 - 1 at Nottingen in Regionalliga (Sudwest)

GK Tim Murray (90) ended his season at Ekenas with a resounding defeat at TPS Turku (promotion playoff) with games going on around and relegation a possibility, a 3 - 0 loss must have felt nerve racking for Ekenas who ended the season 3 points above the red line and safety, so will continue in Ykkonen next season

In Germany 3Liga, Mario Rodriguez was an unused sub in Chemnitzer's 2 - 4 away win over Magdeburg

Osnabruck featured Marc Heider (90) who Scored the winning goal and Robbie Kristo (71) as they won 1 - 0 over Sonnenhof and GK David Yelldell to move into 2nd place in Germany's 3Liga

In Bundesliga, John Brooks (90 + yellow) and #2 Hertha, won their home game against #4 FC Koln 2 - 1. Hertha are currently tied for 1st place with Bayern who lead on GD and who have an extra game in hand.

Christian Pulisic came to Dortmund's rescue today, coming off the bench for the 2nd half, with Dortmund down 2 - 0 at Ingolstadt and Alfredo Morales (1) . Christian Assisted on Dortmund's 2nd goal and Scored the 3rd goal in ET, to force a 3 - 3 draw and keeping Dortmund in the top 6

In Norway's Tippeligaen, Cole Grossman (90) and Stabaek lost their home game 1 - 2 to Sarpsborg. With the result, Stabaek are now back in relegation trouble, with just a couple of games left they are now in one of the automatic relegation spots. GK Brad Guzan, took his (now) usual spot on the bench as Middlesborough visited Arsenal in the English Premier League and came away with a point in goalless draw

Geoff Cameron went 90 for Stoke as they traveled to Hull and won 0- 2 in the EPL. This was Stoke's 2nd win in a row, and 2nd win of the season

Two Americans on the field today at Chesterfield, Gboly Ariyibi went 90 for the home-side and Duane Holmes went 72 and claimed an Assist for league leaders Scunthorpe as they won this one 0 - 3 and extend their lead to 5 points. Chesterfield who were so good last season have now only gained 1 point in their last 5 games.

In England's National League, GK Brendan Moore gets the Shut Out for Torquay as they are held to a goalless draw with visitors Aldershot

GK Danny Rogers and Falkirk did not have a good day as they fall 2 - 4 at home to Raith Rovers in Scotland's Championship. Both of today's teams are at 17 points with Raith having the advantage on GD

Kevin Dzierzawski (21) started on the bench for Peterhead as they visited Albion Rovers and came away with a 0 - 1 victory. This is Peterhead's 2nd straight victory and pulls the out of the relegation zone in Scotland's League One, for the first time this season.

Julian Ceesay went 90 as FC Amberg hosted Aubstadt in Oberliga (Bayern Nord) and drew 2 - 2

In Norway's Tippeligaen, two teams fighting for a European spot next season battled it out with just a few weeks to mark their spot. Brann and GK Alex Horwath (in 18 / DNP) defended their home turf against Molde and GK Ethan Horvath (Josh Gatt not in 18 today) in a game that ended in a 2 - 1 victory for Brann, which gives them a 3 point cushion over #3 Odd. Molde dropped back to 5th place and will probably have to get some help to make Europe next season (#1 Rosenborg are so far ahead (18 points) that the battle is for 2nd and 3rd place.

In Sweden's Superettan Paul Torres Scored for Assyriska FF and may have handed them a relegation lifeline as they got a good 1 - 1 draw at 4th place Dalkurd. MONDAY WRAP: Special Weekday - Goals, USYNTeamers, Finland Top Tier and Sweden 2nd Tier

So today looked like I might do a small piece on the games going on and I was right. Finland, Sweden and EPL2 are the highlights, lets get straight to it;

In Finland Veikkausliiga, KuPS visited HIFK and GK Craig Hill registered a Shut Out for KuPs as they win 0 - 2

RoPS were without Will John today as they visited Inter Turku and drew 1 - 1 - RoPS results over the past month has put them out of contention for a Euro spot next season

Kemi dropped 3 points at home to VPS in a 1 - 4 defeat, and are now in trouble, hovering just above the relegation zone. Christian Eissele did not make the 18 today.

Brian Span came on as a first half substitute to help Mariehamn maintain their slim lead at the top of Veikkausliiga, making short work of Lahti in a 0 - 2 win
The 23rd of October is the final day of the Veikkausliiga with all the teams playing their final game of the season;

KuPS are safe
RoPS are safe
Kemi must win to survive (They play away at KuPS)
Mariehamn must win at home over #5 Ilves to be assured of first place (Champions League) a draw would certainly give them a Europa League spot. The final positions/outcome will be decided in another high stakes game as #2 HJK (1 point back) hosts #3 SJK (3 points back) - next Sunday can anticipate some last gasp drama in Finland's top tier.

In Sweden's Superettan, Sirius and Patrick Hopkins (90) extended their lead at the top to 5 points with a 4 - 1 win over Orgryte

There are 3 weeks left in the Superettan season. It looks a pretty safe bet that Sirius will be promoted to the top tier Allsvenskan. AFC United (that has 2 US Players) is currently in 2nd place, but only 1 point above the #3 team. Who will get the other automatic promotion and who will be in a play-off for that right will be decided over the coming 3 weeks. The Big game will be next Monday when #1 Sirius will visit #3 Halmstad. Halmstad are 6 points behind Sirius, so if there was ever a '6 point game' this will be it.

Remaining Games;
Sirius - (A) #3 Halmstad
             (H) #9 IK Frej
             (A) #4 Dalkurd

AFC  - (A) #16 (last place) Angelholms
            (H) #7  Atvidabergs
            (A) #3  Halmstad

Halmstad - (H) #1 Sirius
                   (A) #8 Trelleborgs
                   (H) #2 AFC

Looking at the match-ups it looks like AFC might have the easier (not easy) road. This is going to be a final 3 weeks to watch
Other Superettan teams that we follow
Varbergs - are safe
Assyriska FF - are in trouble. With 3 games left, 2 away from home, and 4 points from safety its a tough ask for the team to avoid the drop. The best case scenario would be an opportunity at a play-off with one of the division 2 teams, and hope for a win.
In England's Premier League 2 USYNT Daniel Barbir Scored quickly, 3 minutes in, to give visitors, West Bromwich U23 an early lead. Norwich U23, not to be outdone hit back in the 6th minute and that was it for the scoring until ET when the home team,  Norwich U23, finally broke through. Final 2 - 1

Everything was looking great for Reading U23 after 20 year old American Andrija Novakovich Scored a Brace to give Reading a 2 - 0 lead after 15 minutes. Then the roof caved and visitors Everton U23 scored 6 unanswered goals. Antonee Robison came off the bench for the Everton U23 at minute 56. Reading U23 did get another goal at 89 minutes but by then it was already over. Everton are now EPL2 (Group 1) leaders.  Final 3 - 6

Not such a great game for Fulham U23, with Marlon Fossey and Luca de la Tore as they fall 2 - 0 at Swansea U23, with a goal on both sides of halftime. EPL2 (Group 2) League leaders Swansea had little trouble to deal with.  Final 2 - 0

WEEKEND WRAP: Friday/Saturday/Sunday - Features 10 Goals, 5 Shut Outs and an Assist

Not a bad weekend for our guys. With a number of smaller leagues completed, a fair number of our regular 'goal-scorers' are finished till next season, so 10 goals is a good harvest. We can always expect a handful of shut outs from our goalkeeper corp (only the country's change) this week Ireland and Japan, get the nod. I didn't see the Frankfurt/Bayern game, but by all report's Timothy Chandler played an exceptional game and got the mention for an assist.

In Sweden, Adam Kelemet and Sandvikens win Division 2 (Norrland) and will play in Division 1 next year. Congrats to them. The races for Euro spots, Promotion and Relegation are really heating up across Scandinavia - we will know who goes where over the next few weeks.

Etchu Tabe (19) and Haka, hosted #1 JJK, who were looking to right the boat after their first loss in sometime, last weekend. For a while in the first half it looked as though Haka would produce the upset, but 4 unanswered goals is not the way to win a game - Final 2 - 4

Isaac Kannah left the game at minute 66, as KTP, who really needed a win to survive in Ykkonen, fought hard for a 1 - 1 draw against KPV (Mike Banner was not in 18)

SUNDAY

GK Daniel Schmidt gets the Shut Out as Yamaga travel to Chiba and score 3 in a 0 - 3 win, solidifying their 2nd place position in Japans J-League 2. With 4 of Yamaga's remaining 6 games at home, we 'should' see them in the top tier next season.

GK Brad Guzan was an unused sub as Middlesbrough lose 0 - 1 to Watford in the English Premier League

Andrew Stadler was an unused sub as Ostersunds visited AIK Copenhagen in Sweden's Allsvenskan and lost 2 - 0

Brendan Hines-Ike went the full 90 as Orebro hosted Kalmar in the Allsvenskan and won 2 - 1 - with the top 3 teams already decided, what could have been battles for Euro places are reduced to meaningless (except team pride)

GK Josh Wicks gets the Shut Out as AFC United did themselves no favor in a goalless draw with (possible relegation bound) Syrianska in Sweden's Superettan. Tristan Bowen came off the bench at 68th minute, but was ineffective. AFC are still in 2nd place but with only a 1 point lead over 3rd place Halmstad for an automatic promotion.

Jochen Graf came off the bench at minute 73 and Scored the winner for Oskarhamns in their Sweden Division 1 match with Utsiktens. Amazingly this is the 2nd time in 2 weeks that Jochen has come off the bench late and scored the winning goal for his team

GK Benjamin Machini (90) after 3 straight draws Barakaldo get a road win over SS Reyes in Spain's Segunda B (Group 2) 2 - 3 on an 87th minute strike. After 9 games only 5 points separate the top 12 teams, so points at this time are very important - good win for Barakaldo

GK Justin vom Steeg (90) as Dusseldorf II draw 2 - 2 with Siegen in Regionalliga (West)

Cordt Andreas Flätgen came off the bench at the 70th minute and Scored the winning goal, for Neunkirchen as they visited Pirmasens II in Oberliga (Rheinland-Pfalz/Saar)

They are 5 points from safety (today) 2 points from appearing in a relegation play-off. This was their first win in their last 10 attempts.

GK Matt Pyzdrowski (90) and Helsingborg visited Elfsborg in Sweden's Allsvenskan and fell 1 - 0. With only a few games left in the season it looks more likely that Helsingborg will have to battle hard to stave of relegation and stay in the top flight

Hunter Gorskie was an unused sub today as Legnica visited League Leaders Sosnowiec in Poland's Division 1 and fell 1 - 0. Until today Legnica had not lost in their last 5 outings

In Norway's Tippeligaen, GK Alex Horwath (in18/DNP) and Brann lost a really important game today as they fell at home to cellar dweller Lillstrom 1 - 2 . A win today would have put space between them and the #3 team Odd, after today they are tied for 2nd with Odd and Molde just 3 points back - all 3 fighting for 2 Europa League spots. With only 3 games left, next weeks match with 3rd place Molde is critical for both teams if they have dreams of Europe next season.

And in the other game in Norway's Tippeligaen Josh Gatt (63) GK Ethan Horvath (90) and Molde could only eek out a goalless draw with Sogndal. Ethan gets the Shut Out. With only one win in the last 5 games Molde need to step it up if they want Europe soccer next season

Cole Grossman (90) and Stabaek managed a 1 - 1 draw at Valerenga, after leading till the 84th minute. With Lillstrom winning over Brann today Stabaek slip down 1 spot into automatic relegation, with 3 games left (2 x home) not an easy task with Molde on the horizon, #6 Sarpsborg and Start making the 3 remaining fixtures.

WEEKEND WRAP: Friday/Saturday/Sunday Features 7 Goals 3 Shut Outs & 2 Assists

Not the best weekend, referencing the past few weeks....but we did get 7 goals and 3 shut-outs. Finland has completed Kakkonen, and will complete Ykkonen, and Veikkausliiga over the next 2 weeks, with some excitement for US Player followers. Norway is setting up for an incredible final 4 weeks, with 6 teams vying for the 2 Europa League spots. There is equal excitement in Sweden's Allsvenskan and Superettan where we could have a US Player (Brian Span) in the Champions League with Mariehamn, but hold on teams, are closing in fast, with just 3 games left. Other news; Keaton Parks has moved up a level at Varzim in Portugal's Segunda Liga and was a sub today - congrats Keaton.

OK here's the list.  the short version (just highlights) first, followed by the comprehensive list that gives the details (as always, we try to capture all the US players activities, if we have missed anyone please let us know)

GK Craig Hill (90) and KuPS did not have a good day in Finland's Veikkausliiga, as they fell at home to Inter Turk 0 - 2 . Two draws and three losses in their last five games has put an end to any thoughts of European play next season as their spiral continues

Mariehamn and Brian Span (52) took care of business as they hosted PK-35 with the top spot in Veikkausliiga on the line. 3 second half goals hammered home their win 4 - 2. Its not a certainty that Mariehamn will be playing in Europe next season, with 3 games left they have to face 2 of Finland's top 4 teams, and with only 3 points separating the top 4 clubs its a winner takes all scenario

Mike Banner (90 + yellow) and KPV went into #1 JJK, who were on a 3 straight win streak, and came out with 3 points as they won 0 - 1. KPV will end up mid-table, JJK are now only 1 point in the lead atop the league

Fabian Johnson (82) and M'Gladbach were totally demolished by 3 goals in 6 minutes by Schalke as they went on to win 4 - 0 - its just 6 games (this season) but M'Gladbach has fallen off track with this loss. Schalke who had 0 points from there first five games came up big with their first win of the season

Brendon Hines-Ike (31 + Assist) and Orebro put in a good effort to fight back against Djurgarden in Sweden's Allsvenskan succumbing 3 - 2. Nice to see Brendon in the action and making a difference. Orebro have not shown much fighting spirit of late 2 losses, 3 draws in last 5 games, hopefully, even in this loss they will gain some confidence

Coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer chose to start both GK Ethan Horvath (90) and Josh Gatt (64 + yellow) as Molde traveled to Tromso in Norway's Tippeligaen. Good choice as Molde win 0 - 2 and gain 3 valuable points that put them just 1 point out of a chance of European football next season. There are only 4 games left in the Tippeligaen season left. Ethan can claim the Shut Out

Not that it matters much, Alex De John  went 90 in Starts 2 - 0 loss to Viking in Norway's Tippeligaen - Start are already so far behind they are relegated and will play in OBOS-Ligaen next season. NOTE: There are 4 games left in Tippeligaen. Rosenberg will play Champions League next season, there are 6 teams within 6 points of the 2nd/3rd spot (Europa League)
