WEEKEND WRAP: Friday,Saturday,Sunday - Goals (11), USYNTeamers, Shut-Outs (6) and More

This weekend was just so eventful, so many Americans playing in so many countries, 11 goals (2 x 2 goal games), 6 goalkeepers got shut outs, an assist, and 2 debuts - Plus a plethora of young Americans starting for their club's junior squads and having success..its been a pleasure to track this weekend's action. I have supplied a short version for non-readers, as well as a comprehensive list of all the action (Note: there were at least 10 games where Americans may have been involved that I could not find detail) but otherwise they are all here....
Great to see Aaron Jóhannsson, back on the field for Bremen, its been a long time coming, DeAndre Yedlin made a short intro at Newcastle, Josh Gatt was on the bench for the 2nd week, not long now, and Louis Bennett II made the bench in Cyprus and Stephen Golz made the pitch, after he signed this week in Sweden, both making their debuts. There are to many young Americans to mention, but the future of US Soccer (just looking abroad) looks really promising.

The full version of the three days is below as usual.

Here is the Short Version:

GOALS
Mitchel Lopez (Finland)
Andrew Wooten (Germany)
Bobby Wood (Germany)
Jon-Paul Pittman (England)

Romain Gall (Sweden)

ASSISTS

Eric Lichaj (England)

SHUT OUTS

Mitchel Lopez (90) Scored BK-46 3rd goal, as they handed FC Kontu a hefty 7 - 3 defeat in Finland Kakkonen (Group B) That's 9 goals in 9 games for Mitchel

Jossimer Sanchez went 90 as Narpes Kraft beat GBK and Lawrence Smith (90) and Chris Corcoran (36) who is likely injured, in Kakkonen (Group C). The loss is a major setback for GBK's promotion hopes

In Germany's 2Liga, Russell Canouse (19) and Bochum battled to a 1 - 1 draw against visitors Hannover. In the early season Hannover are #1, Bochum #4, neither side has lost a game

Sandhausen and Andrew Wooten (20) lost their game against Stuttgart and Joel Sonora (in 18/DNP) despite Andrew's Scoring, which looked like the start of a comeback, that fell short 1 - 2

Bryan Gaul (45) was replaced by Matt Taylor (45) as Offenbach visited Steinberg in Regionalliga (Sudwest) and lost 2 - 1 - kind off strange to see one American replacing another (in Germany)

Brooks Lennon was a sub for Liverpool U23 in English Premier League 2 as they beat Arsenal U23 with Gedion Zelalem 1 - 3

Both Marlon Fossey and Luca De La Torre started for Fulham U23 as they lost in ET to Brighton U23 in EPL2

Andrija Novakovich was a sub for Reading U23 as they took on and beat Manchester City U23 3 - 2

Danny Barbir went 77 minutes as West Bromwich U23 fell 3 - 1 to Wolves U23 in EPL2

In France Ligue 2, GK Quentin Westberg (90) and Tours could only manage a 1 - 1 draw with Jordan Siebatcheu (35) and Reims. Reims are 5 games into the season and have not lost a game as yet.

In the Netherlands Eredivisie, Rubio Rubin (in 18/DNP) and Utrecht are still looking for their first win of the season as they drew 1 - 1 with Vitesse.

In the Bundesliga, Aaron Jóhannsson (64) made his first appearance in oh so long, his injury/surgery seems healed and (IMHO) a few months at club level should see him back to his old self (Klinsi leave him be). Today was not a good day for his club Bremen! but then visiting Bayern is not a good day for most clubs. Julian Green was in the 18, but did not make it on to the pitch as Bayern pummeled Bremen 6 - 0.

SATURDAY

Cameron Carter-Vickers was in 18/DNP as Tottenham hosted Liverpool in the EPL in a game that ended all even at 1 - 1

GK Kenneth Kronholm and Kiel easily won their Germany 3Liga match against Zwickau 3 - 0, giving Kenneth the Shut-out

Dortmund won their opener at home to Mainz, but without Christian Pulisic who watched today's game from the bench as an unused sub. Final 2 - 1 in favor of Dortmund

Timothy Chandler joined the action at minute 56 as his team Frankfurt won their season opener at home to Schalke 1 - 0. An early goal and a defensive effort from Frankfurt, who were down to 10 men by the end of the game

In Norway's Tippeligaen, Molde and Ethan Horvath (90) did not need the services of Josh Gatt (in 18/DNP) as they visited Stromsgodset and won 0 - 2 , giving Ethan the Shut-out, their 4th straight win, and now definitely in the race (tied 3rd) for a Europa League spot next year

In the EPL, Geoff Cameron (90) and Stoke lost a tight game at Everton, 1 - 0 on an own goal by the Stoke goalkeeper, following a missed PK. Stoke are currently in last place, on GD

Lynden Gooch (77) had another good outing for Sunderland, as they visited Southampton and came away with a 1 - 1 draw. First points of the season for Sunderland. This is Lynden's 3rd straight start.

Jonathan Spector went 90 in Birmingham's 3 - 0 trouncing of Norwich in the English Championship

Eric Lichaj, went 90 and has been credited with an Assist on Nottingham's 3rd goal, as they beat Leeds at home 3 - 1

Its hard to say if Gboly Ariyibi is effected by all the transfer talk. Today he started, went 90 in a 1 - 3 home defeat by Millwall in England's League One

For a while it looked as if Scunthorpe and Duane Holmes (62) would make a game of it, but a red card and an early 2nd half goal doomed there trip to Port Vale, and they fell 3 - 1

GK Brendan Moore (90) and Torquay jumped out of the relegation zone with a 2 - 1 home win against Dover, in England's National League, there first win since opening day

Harrogate and Jon-Paul Pittman (90) have an unbeaten record in England's National League (North) and are tied for 1st place after 6 weeks. Today Jon-Paul Scored their opening goal in a 3 - 1 defeat of Nuneaton. Jon-Paul has now started 3 games for Harrogate and has scored 3 goals

In Iceland's Inkasso-deildin, Johnatan Lama (90) and Huginn helped their cause by winning handily at Leiknir F. 2 - 4 coming back from a 2 - 1 deficit against the home team

In Scotland's Premier League, Hearts started Perry Kitchen (90) and brought on Bjorn Maars Johnsen in 58th minute as they won at Partick, their 2nd straight win, as things look better at Hearts after the season opening loss. Hearts are now in 3rd place following Rangers and Celtic - not bad

Falkirk and GK Danny Rogers got a much needed win in Scotland's Championship. The 1 - 0 win over Dumbarton give Danny his 1st Shut-out this season

Last season Peterhead and Kevin Dzierzawski were fighting for promotion, this season has started out really badly for them (sitting in last place) Today they visited Stranraer, losing 1 - 0. Kevin came off the bench at minute 50, after finding himself benched this week.....they need to turn the season around in a hurry

In Germany's Junior Bundesliga, McKinze Gaines (67) Scored 2 Goals for Wolfsburg U19 as they visited Dresden U19 and won 0 - 4 - great job McKinze

Alec Becker (20) came off the bench for SC Freiburg U19 as they drew 1 - 1 with Ingolstadt U19

Tim Tillman (62) Scored 2 Goals for Bayern U19 as they beat Hoffenheim U19 2 - 5 in a game that saw Hoffenheim with 2 red cards

In Sweden Division 2 (Norrland) Eddy Prugh (90) and Bodens moved into 3rd place after beating Harnosands 1 - 0. Bodens are 7 points out of 2nd place (promotion) which looks a little out of touch right now

GK Tyler Back (90) is having a horrid first season overseas and today added to the poor record as Santa Claus fell 0 - 4 at home to VIFK in Finland Kakkonen (Group C) lets hope things get better for Tyler

Charlie Butte went 90 in Burgbrohl's 2 - 1 loss at SV Morlautern in Oberliga (Rheinland-Pfalz/Saar)

In Finland Ykkonen, GK Tim Murray and Ekenas looked to be in trouble at JJK, but fought back to win 1 - 3 pulling themselves further from the drop zone, while denting #2 JJK's run at 1st place, excellent result for Ekenas

Oscar Ortiz (90) and SC Feucht visited DJK Ammerthal and lost 1 - 0 in Oberliga (Bayern Nord)

I've written this before - there is no excuse when up by 2 goals to lose. GK Alex Horwath and Brann scored twice in 2 minutes to give them a 0 - 2 lead at Haugesund in Norway's Tippeligaen - a game that they lost 3 - 2,  the loss drops them to 4th place and out of Europa League spot (That is all)

In Bundesliga's late game, Fabian Johnson came off the bench at minute 61 as M'Gladbach get a scare from Leverkusen but prevail 2 - 1 to open the season

DeAndre Yedlin was introduced to the Newcastle fan's in the 88th minute as they win 2 - 0 at home against visitors Brighton, who played the last 35 minutes a man down. Newcastle are on a run - 3 straight wins - and move into 4th (tied with 5 teams)

One to watch, Louis Bennett II made the senior squad for his new team Anorthosis in Cyprus' 1st Division (Top Tier) he didn't get on the field, but obviously the coaches think highly of him....The game ended goalless with Nea Salamis - it was the first game of the season for both teams

Caleb Stanko left the game after 32 minutes (injury?) as Vaduz visited Sion in Switzerland Super League where they lost 3 - 1

Ismar Tandir was in 18/DNP as Javor were held to a goalless draw by visitors Cukaricki in Serbia Super Liga

Devann Yao went 67, as BAK 07 visited Aubach in Regionalliga (Nordost) and played to a goalless draw

Paul Torres goes 90, as Assyriska drop points in a home match with Angelholms in Sweden Superettan, giving up a 90+4 goal ending in a 2 - 2 draw. Is it just concentration, that there are so many ET goals?

GK Matt Pyzdrowski was an unused sub in Helsingborgs 2 - 0 defeat at Goteborg in Sweden Allsvenskan

Brendan Hines-Ike came on with just 3 minutes remaining as Orebro came back from 1 - 2 to win this one 3 - 2 over Falkenbergs, also in Allsvenskan

Etchu Tabe went 90 as Haka fell 1 - 0 to Jazz Pori, also in Ykkonen, this was a cellar dweller match, that really hurt Haka's chances of pulling out of the red-zone (Jazz are doomed)

Daniel Stevens (90) and GrIFK visited KPV and Mike Banner and came away with a 0 - 2 win ( bottom 4 clubs have American interest - KTP (24) Haka (24) GrIFK(24) Jazz (13) somebody is going down!)

GK Jeff Gal (90) and Stephen Golz (90 - Debut) helped Lidkopings FK draw 1 - 1 with Stenungsunds in Sweden Division 2 (Gotaland Norra) Golz straight into the team, played all 90 - good stuff

Dion Acoff (90) as Throttur visit Vestmannaeyjar in Iceland's Pepsideilid (top tier) and play to a draw. Throttur are still in last place and looked doomed to be relegated.

In Finland's Veikkausliiga, Christian Eissele (in 18/DNP) and Kemi hosted Will John (60) and RoPS as Kemi won this one 3 - 1. RoPS have now lost 2 in a row, not good as the season end is in sight, they maintain 3rd (Europa League) spot, but only by GD, with 2 other teams, they need to get a win and hope that the teams trailing falter.

Cameron Carter-Vickers was an unused sub in Tottenham's 1 - 0 win over Crystal Palace in the EPL

Jonathan Spector went 76 minutes for Birmingham as they fall at home to Wolves 1 - 3 in the English Championship

Tim Ream was an unused sub in Fulham's 2 - 2 draw at home with Cardiff, Fulham seem to have cooled off a bit, they started the season with 2 wins, now 2 draws, still they are still in the top 6 of the Championship

Eric Lichaj came off the bench early, and helped his team win an exciting goal-fest, 4 - 3 over Wigan

Danny Williams (90 + yellow) and Reading scored twice early, unfortunately 1 was an OG. Reading just seem to be less cohesive so far this (early) season with only 1 win so far.

To soon for Jack McBean to appear for Coventry City in England's League One, still it looks like they could use him right now, today they lost 3 - 1 at Bradford and slipped into the relegation zone.

GK Paul Rachubka, was in the 18/DNP as Bury lost their home game against Oldham 0 - 1

Duane Holmes went off early (32) possible injury? in a game that saw the Scunthorpe attack wake up and lay a whooping on Gillingham 5 - 0. In 2nd place with no losses and 12 goals things are looking good for them early in the season

Chesterfield and Gboly Ariyibi (90) could not find a way through as they visited Shrewsbury, falling 2 - 1 in their first loss this season

Its early in the season for Torquay and (GK) Brendon Moore (90) as they struggle to find form. Today they lost at North Ferriby 1 - 0 a result that drops them in the relegation zone.

Jon-Paul Pittman Scored Harrogate's 2nd goal in what looked to be a comfortable 2 - 0 lead 20 minutes in, but Bradford PA fought back to tie, and it took an 88th minute goal for Harrogate to grab the win 2 - 3 and a share of 1st place in Vanarama National League in England

Charlie Butte went 90 in Oberliga (Rheinland-Pfalz/Saar) as Burgbrohl hosted Ludwigshafen and were handed a 0 - 4 defeat

In Iceland Inkasso-deidin, Will Daniels ( 74) helped Grindavik to a comfortable 4 - 0 win over Kopavogur. Grindavik are now 4 points clear at the top of the table and seem to be a lock for promotion to the top flight

GK Will Dieterich was in 18/DNP as Haukar beat Leiknir F. 1 - 0 also in Inkasso-deidin

In Iceland Division 2, Jannik Eckenrode went 90 as Aegir hosted Jordan Tyler and Hottur in a game of 2 half's Hottur had the upper hand in the first half, taking a 0 - 1 lead in at halftime, then Aegir came back in the 2nd half and, with 2 goals, took the win 2 - 1

Matt Nigro (90) and Vestri visited Volsungur in a game that saw all 4 goals scored in a 20 minute span in the first half. 2 - 2 seems to a fair result as the teams went back and forth scoring

In Scotland's Premier, Perry Kitchen (70 + Yellow) and Bjorn Maars Johnsen (16) and an Assist, helped Hearts in their 5 - 1 home win over Inverness - gives Hearts a 1 - 1 - 1 record through 3 games Good to see Bjorn back on the pitch, and seemingly doing well in his debut Prem League performance

With 1 point out of 3 games Falkirk and GK Danny Rogers (90) need to find consistency and a winning spirit. Today Falkirk fell at Queen of the South 2 - 0.

When you are playing at home, and are up 2 - 0 you should not lose....right? Well Peterhead and Kevin Dzierzawski (90) gave up their 2 goal advantage and settled for a draw with Albion Rovers in Scotland's League One. The only good news here is that Peterhead get their first point of the season.

Andrew Stadler was an unused sub for Ostersund's as they beat Djurgarden 1 - 0 in Sweden's Allsvenskan

It's been 9 games since Sirius and Patrick Hopkins (90) last lost a game, today's 1 - 0 loss at Degerfors broke a very successful string of games. It should be noted that although Degefors are pretty far down the league, they are now on a 3 game win streak. Sirius are still 5 points clear at the top of the table

Not a good day for usually reliable GK Jeff Gal, as his team Lidköpings FK fall 4 - 1 at Karlstad BK in Sweden's Division 2 (Norra Gotaland)

Joel Sonora was in 18/DNP as Stuttgart beat Homburg in DFB Pokal 0 - 3 to advance to the next round

In Japan J-League 2, GK Daniel Schmidt (90 + Shut Out) and Yamaga visited Renofa Yamaguchi in a game that ended scoreless. Yamaga are still in 2nd place (promotion) 6 points behind leaders Sapporo and 3 ahead of #3 C-Osaka. But 4 draws in the last 5 games is barely enough to hold and advance

In Denmark Supeliga, Viborg and George Fochive visited Silkeborg and won big, with a 1 - 5 scoreline. George came off the bench at the 13th minute and was credited with two Assists on the 2nd and 5th goal

EPL MIA. Matt Miazga at Chelsea, DeAndre Yedlin at Tottenham, Gedion Zelalem at Arsenal

All three are poss/prob loanees

In England's Premier League, Sunderland and Lynden Gooch (90 +yellow) faced off with Middlesbrough and GK Brad Guzan (90) at the Stadium of Light, Middlesbrough had the upper hand at half-time and Sunderland made it interesting in the second, as they fell 1 - 2 for their 2nd loss in their 2 opening games, Sunderland and Lynden really didn't look that bad, expecting better results in the future for them

Oh Dear, AJ Soares (90) and Aarhus were totally dismantled by Brondby in Denmark Superliga, falling 0 - 7 - nuff said

In Switzerland Super League, Caleb Stanko (24) and Vaduz had no trouble at home dealing with St. Gallen winning 2 - 0

Emerson Hyndman was out of the squad (ankle injury) for Bournemouth as they fell 1 - 0 at West Ham

Paul Torres (90) as Assyriska FF fell 1 - 0 at Syrianska in Sweden's Superettan - things are not looking good for Assyriska at this time

In Netherlands
Eredivisie, Rubio Rubin (70) and Utrecht remained winless as they are dropped by Alkmaar 1 - 2, not the best start of the season

In Sweden Division 1, Romain Gall (90) and Nyköpings let a 2 goal lead slip away at Vasalunds and ended up returning home with a 3 - 2 loss. In fairness, Vasalunds are battling for a promotion and with the result are tied at the top of the league, but giving up a 2 goal lead is not good whoever you are playing

In Finland - A full schedule of games

In Veikkausliiga, KuPS and GK Craig Hill (in 18/DNP) beat PK-35 comfortably 3 - 0 . Craig is the #2 GK, so not unusual for him to be stuck on the bench. KuPS, with the win (3rd in 5) move into a Europa League spot (at #3)

Brian Span (90 + yellow) won their home game against HIFK 1 - 0 on an early 2nd half PK and extended their lead at the top of the league to 4 points

In Ykkonen, GK Tim Murray (90) and Ekenas hosted Mike Banner (90) and KPV. Ekenas who have lost 5 straight had no answers today and lost 0 - 2

Kyle Curinga (90) and Josue Soto (78) welcomed Gabriel Wirtz (90 + Yellow) and Jazz Pori to Jaro. and won 2 - 0. Jazz are in deep trouble at the bottom of the league with only 10 points from 18 games, at this point relegation looks certain

Etchu Tabe (90) and Haka visited #1 TPS and had no luck, as the home team won this one 2 - 0

In Kakkonen (Group A) Jakeem Johnson (90) Scored the tieing goal for PEPO in the 88th minute, as PEPO went on to win 2 - 3 over Mikkeli (on 2 late goals) This is PEPO's 5th win in a row and moves them up to 4th place

In Kakkonen (Group C) GK Scott Angevine and YPA came back from a 2 - 1 deficit at half-time to snag a draw at AC Kajaani

In a goal-fest GBK beat up on Santa Claus. Chris Corcoran (90) Scored the first (and winning) goal after 4 minutes, Lawrence Smith (90) Scored the 3rd goal as GBK romped....GK Tyler Back only lasted the first half for Santa Claus (not sure if that was injury or performance (Unfortunately, I think it may be injury, Santa Clause were only down 1 - 0 at the half)

Also in Group C, Narpes Kraft and Jossimer Sanchez (90) had a first half lead (1 - 2) but ended having to settle for a 2 - 2 draw at Hercules. The draw pulled Narpes 4 points clear of the relegation zone

In Sweden, Orebro and Brendan Hines-Ike (in 18/DNP) lost at home to AIK Stockholm which dented their Europa League hopes (and raised the hopes of AIK) as the Allsvenskan teams battle for position

In Norway Tippeligaen, Molde with GK Ethan Horvath (90) and Josh Gatt (in 18/DNP) held off Odd and won their home game 4 - 2, after a rough period Molde has now put together 3 wins in a row, Josh Gatt returning is great news for Molde and for US fans, interestingly, there are only 4 points separating #2 Odd and #7 Molde - so if Molde can continue their run of form Europa League is still not out of the realm of possibility

GK Alex Horwath continues as Brann's back-up GK, today #3 Brann managed a 1 - 1 draw at home with #1 Rosenborg (Rosenborg are 12 points ahead of #2 Odd and are running away with Tippeligaen)

Good day's work from Cole Grossman (90) as he Scores and provides an Assist in Stabaek's 3 - 0 win over Aalesund - this is Stabaek's first win in 5 try's and although not out of trouble pulls them a little closer to safety

Alex De John did not see any action today as Start managed a 1 - 1 draw with Sogndal as the doomed Start get their 2nd draw in a row (now have 9 points from 21 games) as they see out their final matches in Tippeligaen

In DFB Pokal, John Brooks (45 + Yellow) helped Hertha win a tough one at Regensburg, where Jann George went the whole 120 minutes and the game went to PK's where Hertha prevailed

In the other late DFB Pokal game (with US interest) Alfredo Morales went 101 minutes in Ingolstadt closely contested game with Aue. The game ended 0 - 0 , went to ET and then PK's before Ingolstadt could claim the win and move on to the next round

WEEKEND WRAP: Saturday/Sunday 8/13/ and 8/14 2016 - Features Young Americans, 16/17 Seasons begin

Not a good weekend to be late reporting...sorry...Well today (Saturday) starts a new year/season in the major European leagues. It's always an exciting time.

For the future of US soccer, today is especially exciting and this season feels like the future will be on display around the world. In England, Cameron Carter-Vickers, Lyndon Gooch , Emerson Hyndman and Gedion Zelalem are gaining traction in the EPL. In Germany, Christian Pulisic, Julian Green and Russell Canouse look set for senior play this season. The next group are also starting their ascendancy, just a year or 2 behind, McKinze Gaines, Dallas Aminzadeh, Gboly AriyibiMukwelle Akale, Romain Gall and Luca De La Torre - to name just a few of many - just an amazing group of new young Americans on the horizon.....so yes its an exciting time for US Soccer.

Kevin Dzierzawski (90) and Peterhead seem to have started this season in a real funk, losing their pre-season cup games and friendlies and now both of their league games. After battling, and just coming up short of promotion last season, they are winless this. today they fell 0 - 3 to East Fife.

In Sweden Superettan, Sirius and Patrick Hopkins (90) extended their lead at the top of the table to 5 points, beating Ljungskile 0 - 2

In Iceland Division 2, Vestri overcame Aegir 2 - 0 as Matt Nigro (86) Scored Vestri's opening (and winning) goal. Aegir and Jannik Eckenrode (58 + Yellow) had no answer today and have now lost 4 in a row, relegation problems really will worry them now

In Sweden Superettan, Paul Torres (90) and Assyriska fell 0 - 1 at home to Degerfors a disappointing result for Assyriska, who have lost 4 of the last 5 and are now in the relegation zone 5 points from safety, behind Degerfors

Also in Superettan, AFC United, GK Josh Wicks (90) and Tristan Bowen (59) gave up a 2nd half goal as they visited IK Frej and lost 1 - 0. AFC remain in 3rd place, and are still within range of 2nd place as Halmstad also lost today (2 points separate the teams)

In Sweden Division 2 (Norra Gotaland) Lidkopings FK beat Kortedala IF with GK Jeff Gal getting the Shut Out for Lidkopings

In Iceland Division 2, Jordan Tyler (90) and Hottur beat KV Reykjavik by 3 - 2. Hottur are in 8th (12 team league) place and look sure to end in the middle of the table, as they are to far behind for promotion, and to far ahead for relegation.

Harrison Hanley went 83 minutes for Njardvik as they drew 2 - 2 with Volsungurin Iceland's Division 2.

In Finland's Veikkausliga, Brian Span (90) was credited with the Assist on Mariehamn's first goal, as they went on to beat VPS 0 - 2. The win, the first in 5 games has given Mariehamn the top spot in Veikkausliga.

In Finland Ykkonen, Jaro with Josue Soto (90) and Kyle Curinga (90) visited GrIFK and came away 2 - 3 winners as they continue their rebound (2 wins 2 draws in last 4 games)

Mike Banner (90) and KPV hosted Gabriel Wirtz(in 18/DNP) and Jazz Pori in a 6 goal thriller that ended in a 3 - 3 draw. Both teams with something to play for, Jazz to salvage their season and escape relegation, KPV to move into a promotion spot (they are 4 points behind)

In Kakkonen (Group C) Jossimer Sanchez (90) and Narpes Kraft put together an emphatic 4 - 1 win over Lapua. Narpes are now 6 points clear of the relegation zone

In Sweden's Allsvenskan, Brendon Hines-Ike and Orebro found a way to win at Hacken, 0 - 1, and break a 2 game losing streak and snatch up 3 points, in a very close grouping of teams battling for the last Europa League spot ( Malmo are 6 points ahead of this group of 4 teams)

In Norway's Tippeligaen, Start and Alex De John (in 18/DNP) gained a rare point as they visited Stromsgodset and left with a 1 - 1 draw. Start who almost certainly will be relegated playing spoiler - Stromsgodset were hoping for 3rd place after this weekend

Stabaek are still struggling, but today Cole Grossman (90) was credited with an Assist on their first goal, then later they had to fight back to get a 2 - 2 draw at Viking. Stabaek have now had 4 draws and a loss in their last 5 games, they are 2nd from bottom, but amazingly only 3 points from safety

In a friendly news, Timothy Chandler started for Frankfurt as they beat Spanish side Celta Vigo. Christian Pulisic was not in Dortmund's squad for the German Super Cup (he is playing Monday in another friendly) and Julian Green was in the 18 / DNP for Bayern Munich in their win

August 7, 2016

WEEKEND WRAP: Sunday 8/7/2016 Features Goals, Shut Outs and Some Tough Loses

In comparison to yesterday, its been a fine day for US Players across the pond. 4 Goalkeepers had shut outs, in Japan, Sweden and Germany, with a special shout out to Scott Angevine who has yet another shut out notched on his belt, in Finland. We had two multi-goal games, in Sweden's Superettan, where Tristan Bowen found the net twice (and Josh Wicks got a shut out) in a 5 - 0 victory, and in Sweden Division 2, where Sasa Plavsic led a storming come-back in a 7 - 3 win. Jann George opened his account in Germany, and Isaac Kannah continue his scoring ways. We also had a double Assist game when Brian Span had the assist on Mariehamn's 2 goals, and finally young Brendan Hines-Ike got the start in Sweden.  So a lot to be happy about today.

To the list;

GK Daniel Schmidt and Yamaga were held to a goalless draw by Mito in Japan's J League 2. Yamaga has to watch out, 2 draws in 2 weeks has slipped them 7 points adrift of first place Sapporo, with several teams catching them up. Officially, Daniel gets a Shut Out

In Switzerland Super League, Vaduz and Caleb Stanko visited Lugano and came away with all 3 points in a 0 - 2 win, there first win of the young season. Caleb went the 90 today

In Germany 3Liga, Marc Heider (90) started and Robbie Kristo (19) came off the bench as Osnabruck could only manage a 1 - 1 draw at home to Duisburg

Also in 3Liga, Sonnenhof (GK David Yelldell did not dress today) hosted Regensburg and Jann George (90) in an exciting game that saw 7 goals and 2 red cards, as Regensburg came back from 2 goals down to win 3 - 4. Jann Scored his first league goal of the season, that tied the game at 3 apiece

AFC United needed a win to keep pace with Sirius at the top of Superettan and our two US players provided, Tristan Bowen Scored twice (AFC's 1st and 2nd) ans GK Josh Wicks got the Shut Out as AFC thumped Varnamo 5 - 0

Royal-Dominique Fennell (in 18/DNP) just watched as Wurzburger Kickers lost at Braunschweig 2 - 1 in their opener in 2Liga

In Norway Tippeligaen, Cole Grossman (90) and Stabaek had shown some life recently after a disastrous start to the season, today they slipped back as they lost their home game to Haugesund 0 - 1. The loss denied them the chance to elevate themselves from the relegation zone.

In Sweden's Allsvenskan, Brendon Hines-Ike (90 + Yellow) got the nod with the starting 11 as Orebro visited #2 Norrkoping and fell 3 - 1

GK Adam Benn (90) gets the Shut Out as Niendorf 1 draw 0 - 0 with Rugenbergen in Oberliga (Hamburg)

Julian Ceesay (90) and Amberg visit DJK Bamberg and get a point in a goalless draw in Oberliga (Bayern Nord)

Omar Castro went 90 minutes in Braunschweig II 3 - 2 loss at Luneburger Hansa in Regionalliga (Nord)

Finland had a full schedule today with some shocking scores across the leagues

In Veikkausliiga, League leaders Mariehamn started Brian Span (61) and he rewarded his choice with 2 first half Assists. But the normally powerhouse at home Mariehamn gave up 3 2nd half goals and lost their game with cellar dwellers HIFK 2 - 5. Mariehamn still hold top spot, but now shared with HJK (@ 30 points each)

RoPS and Will John (25) had little problem with VPS as they won 2 - 0 and move into 3rd place in the league (with a game in hand over the 2 teams above them)

In Ykkonen, Jaro with Kyle Curinga (90) and Josue Soto (90) provided Ekenas GK Tim Murray with a day to forget as Jaro dismantled Ekenas 5 - 0. Jaro are still in the relegation zone, but with 1 win and 2 draws in the last 3 games are creeping to safety, and are probably feeling pretty good about their chances for survival.

Gabriel Wirtz went the full 90 in Jazz Pori's 3 - 2 win over GrIFK in a game that saw 3 changes in leads (Daniel Stevens did not dress today for GrIFK) Incidentally Jazz are bottom of the league, so with Jaro the 2 bottom teams won today

Also in Ykkonen, KTP and Isaac Kannah (90) played an amazing game against KPV and Mike Banner (90 + Yellow) with Isaac Kannah Scoring KTP's 2nd goal, they took a 4 - 0 lead, that was whittled down by KPV to 4 - 3 before KTP found the net for a 5th and put the game away 5 - 3

In Kakkonen (Group C) GK Scott Angevine (90) kept the score sheet blank with a Shut Out as YPA visited VIFK and the attack dis the rest with a 0 - 1 win. YPA who had a disastrous start to the season has now won 7 of their last 8, are well entrenched in mid-table, who knows what would be if they had started the season better

Jossimer Sanchez went 90 for Narpes Kraft, as they visited AC Kajaani, also in Group C, and were well beaten 4 - 0, the trip back home will probably be in silence. Narpes has now lost 3 of their last 4 games.

Charlie Butte (90) was on the losing side today as Burgbrohl lost 3 - 0 at Neunkirchen in Oberliga (Rheinland-Pfalz/Saar)

In Israel B.Jerusalem and Adam Sparstein were on the wrong side of a 2 - 4 scoreline. H. Beer Sheva came from behind twice, before pulling away in this Toto Cup game. B Jerusalem are out.

In Norway Tippeligaen, Alex Horvath (in 18/DNP) and Brann won their home meeting with Stromsgodset 1 - 0 - which leap-frog's them over today's visitors into 3rd place (Europa League) and 1 point behind #2 Odd

Also in Tippeligaen, Alex De John (in 18/DNP) and Start continued there slide into Obos-Ligaen (2nd tier) with a 1 - 2 home loss to Odd. With no wins this season and only 7 points from 19 games survival just does not look a possibility

Christopher Harris and Boo FK played to a goalless draw at Sollentuna in Sweden Division 2 (Norra Svealand) a pretty good result for cellar dwelling Boo FK against the league leaders

Sasa Plavsic (90) who scored earlier this week was in action today for S.Kerbura as they won 7 - 3 in Sweden's Division 2 (Norra Svealand) Leading his club back from a 1 - 3 deficit to Norrtalje Scoring 2 goals in the comeback

WEEKEND WRAP: Saturday 0/6/2016 Features Goals, Season's Begin Across Europe

A little late with Saturday's list, life sometimes interferes with football.....anyway mixed day - on one hand excitement at the opening day(s) around Europe, on the other our guys only did OK. We started the day looking good with an assist from Andrew Wooten in Germany, then a goal from Andrew Stadler in Sweden, and I was feelin' chuffed that the day would be a good one, alas the results tell the story.

Straight to the list;

Christian Eissele came off the bench in the 89th minute as Kemi beat PK-35 in Finland's Veikkausliiga

In Germany's 2Liga, Russell Canouse came off the bench in the 89th minute in Bochum's season opener as they beat Union Berlin 2 - 1

In Germany 3Liga, GK Kenneth Kronholm went 90 in Kiel's 1 - 0 loss at Aalen, not the most promising start of the season for Kiel

Shawn Barry came off the bench at minute 75 as FSV Frankfurt hosted Erfurt in 3Liga and lost 0 - 1

Devante Parker went 56 minutes for Mainz II as they visited Paderborn and suffered a 3 - 1 defeat

GK Craig Hill sat on the bench as KuPS visited SJK and fell 1 - 0 in Finland Veikkausliiga

Eric Friedlander came off the bench in minute 75 for Ansbach in Oberliga (Bayern Nord) as they visited Viktoria Aschaffenburg and won 2 - 3

In Germany 2Liga Andrew Wooten (73) and Sandhausen hosted Dusseldorf and Jerome Kiesewetter (in 18/DNP) in a game that ended in a 2 - 2 draw. Andrew is credited with the Assist on Sandhausen's 1st goal

In Norway Tippeligaen, GK Ethan Horvath (90) and Molde held on for a 3 - 2 win over Bodo/Glimt breaking their string of no wins at 6 games (1W/1D/5L)

Kevin Dzierzawski and Peterhead visited Alloa in Scotland's Division 1, and were totally demolished 4 - 0, in their first league game of the season. They'll be having nightmares about this one

In Sweden's Allsvenskan, Andrew Stadler (76) and Ostersunds had no trouble with Sundsvall winning 4 - 0. Andrew Scored Ostersunds 1st (and winning) goal

In Denmark's SuperLiga Viborg and George Fochive (in 18/DNP) were unlucky not to grab all 3 points (missing a PK) and settled for a 0 - 0 draw at Odense

The English season has started (except EPL) and in their first game Birmingham and Jonathan Spector (90) hosted Cardiff in a game that ended scoreless in the Championship

Also in the Championship, Adam Henley (90) and Blackburn started their season off with a horrible 1 - 4 loss to Norwich. An opening day game Blackburn will want to put behind them quickly

Nottingham Forest and Eric Lichaj (4) had a bit of a scare as they hosted Burton in their season opener, ultimately winning 4 - 3 after falling behind to the visitors (who scored 2 goals in 3 minutes in the 1st half)

Danny Williams (90) and Reading started their season on a positive note as they beat Preston 1 - 0 at Madejski Stadium

Gboly Ariyibi (90) and Chesterfield opened their League One season with a visit to Oxford, coming away with a point, in a 1 - 1 draw

With all the fanfare by the Scunthorpe coach over Duane Holmes (in 18/DNP) pre-season form, Duane found himself on the bench for this game as Scunthorpe made short work of Bristol Rovers 3 - 1 to open their season. Lets hope that Duane gets off the bench next week.

GK Paul Rachubka, in 18/DNP for his new team Bury Town as they open the season with a 2 - 0 win over Charlton in League One play

In the English National League, a miserable day for GK Brandon Moore, who was red-hot for Torquay last season, as they opened their season at Macclesfield and lost 2 - 0

With 90+ minutes on the clock Jon-Paul Pittman Scored, giving Harrogate a 2 - 2 draw for their opening game at Worcester. Jon-Paul;s first goal for his new team was 'most timely'

In Iceland Inkasso-deildin, Will Daniels and Grindavik visited Leiknir F. in a game that Grindavik really wanted to win. Will Scored Grindavik's 2nd goal of the day as they pummeled the hosts 1 - 4. Grindavik are now in 2nd place, just 1 point behind the leaders Akureyi

In Scotland's Championship, GK Danny Rogers and Falkirk hosted Hibernian in their season opener, falling 1 - 2 on an early 2nd half goal

Patrick Hopkins (90) and Sirius extended their lead at the top of Sweden's Superettan with a 2 - 0 win over Varbergs

In Germany Regionalliga (Sudwest) Charlie Rugg (18) and Pirmassens fell 1 - 2 to Hessen Kassel , starting their season with a tough loss

In a friendly, Bobby Wood played the 45 min for Hamburg SV and Geoff Cameron 69 minutes for Stoke City. Hamburg wins this one 1-0

Also in a friendly, GK Brad Guzan, was in the 18 but DNP as Middlesbrough faced off with Real Sociedad, game ended scoreless

And to keep it all up to date, Tim Ream (5) as Fulham's won their season opener 1-0 against Newcastle United, in the Championship yesterday

Matt Nigro and Vestri hosted IR Reykjavik in Iceland's Division 2. Falling 0 - 1 to the league leaders. It's Vestri's 2nd loss in a row (3rd in 4) as they slip out of contention

Young American GK Bakary Sanyang (New York) got the shut out as Pfeddersheim beat his old team Hauenstein 1 - 0 in Germany's Oberliga

Paul Torres (90) and Assyriska FF will want to forget today as they tumble 0 - 4 to GAIS in Sweden's Superettan, and slip into the relegation zone

Terence Boyd (90)and Ken Gipson both started for RB Leipzig in a 3 - 2 friendly win over Spanish side Eibar

Rubio Rubin (90) started for Utrecht as they kicked off their season at home against PSV, it all started out well enough with a 16th minute goal/lead but ultimately things didn't go as planned and Utrecht open the season with a 1 - 2 loss

In the Serbian Super Liga, Javor and Ismar Tandir visited Backa winning the game 0 - 1, that's the first 3 games of the season undefeated

In Poland Division 1, Hunter Gorskie went 90 as Legnica visited Kluzbork and came away with a point in a 2 - 2 draw - good start to the season, so far

Not a good result for Jason Gorskie and Bnai Sakhnin is Israel's Toto Cup as they fall to M. Haifa 2 - 1 if they want to continue past the group stage, well they need to win the next game and they need a little luck
