WEEKEND WRAP: Friday, Saturday & Sunday Features USYNT Players and 7 Goals

Plenty of action this weekend, but its the younger players that carry the flag. Cameron Carter-Vickers and Matt Miazga both dressed twice Cameron playing once and Matt on both occasions. Lyndon Gooch returned from injury and scored, Julian Green scored in a friendly and Haji Wright just keeps on scoring, this time two goals for Schalke U19, and that's not all that American youth players did this weekend.

We had debut's by Gedion Zelalem at league leaders Venlo, Mukwelle Akale, making his first 18 call for Villarreal B, Romain Gall debuted and scored for his new team GIF Sundsvall and Aaron Schoenfeld, who made a surprising cross town switch to Maccabi Tel Aviv made his debut the next day.

Brian Span went 90 minutes as Mariehamn traveled to TPS Turku in Finland Suomen Cup (Both teams are tied at the top of Group D)


Lyndon Gooch is back, well with Sunderland's U23. Lyndon Scored Sunderland's lone goal as they got beaten 4 - 1 by Manchester City U23


Matt Miazga got his 3 minutes in (again) today as Vitesse visited Den Haag and won 0 - 2. In Netherlands Eredivisie


Shane O'Neill played the full 90 minutes in NAC Breda's 2 - 1 loss at Den Bosch in Netherlands Eerste Divisie


Joel Sonora (45) and Julian Green (45 and a goal) in a friendly between Stuttgart and Stuttgart Kickers. Final 4 - 0 to Stuttgart


Gedion Zelalem came off the bench,at 75th minute, for his debut with VVV Venlo in a 4 - 1 win oat home, over Graafschap in Eerste Divisie. Right now Venlo look unstoppable and should be favored for promotion


Bobby Wood went the 90 for Hamburg as they beat Leverkusen 1 - 0 in Bundesliga's Friday game. The win moves them up to 16th, and gives hope that they will escape relegation


SATURDAY


Corey Anton went 90 before being subbed out for Kaiserslautern U19, as they traveled to Hoffenheim U19 and fought to a 2 - 2 draw, in Germany's Junior Bundesliga (Süd/Südwest)


Shawn Parker was an unused sub, as Nurnberg visited Heidenheim in Germany 2Liga and won 2 - 3


USYNT Mukwelle Akale on the bench for Villarreal B, this is his time making 18 in competitive play. Villarreal beat Llagostera 4 - 1 in Spain's Segunda Division B (Group 3) and move up to 6th place (one point out of Promotional play-off spot)


Andrew Wooten Scored Sandhausen's goal (the first was an OG by Aue) as they beat Aue 2 - 0 in Germany 2Liga. Sandhausen have not lost in the last 5 and are sitting 5th with 30 points, 5 points out of 1st


Lyonel Hyer came of the bench at 77 for Hannover U18 as they hosted Isaiah Young (78) and Bremen U19 in Junior Bundesliga (Nord/Nordost). Not the best debut for Isaiah as Bremen were knocked for 6 in a resound 6 - 0 loss


In Scotland Premier League, Hearts traveled to Motherwell and won 0 - 3. Bjorn Johnsen only lasted the first half, and Perry Kitchen didn't join the action until minute 63.


In Finland Suomen Cup (Group C) , Daniel Stevens (28) and GrIFK managed a 2 - 2 draw at KTP


In a Friendly, Sweden's GIF Sundsvall won big over Norway's Levanger, 5 - 1 with newly arrived Romain Gall getting the 5th goal for Sundsvall - nice start - even if only a friendly


In Germany 3Liga, Royal Fennell went 90 as Hallescher traveled to Chemnitzer and drew 1 - 1. With 2 wins and 3 draws in their last 5, Hallescher move into 3rd place


Marc Heider went 90 and Scored with tieing goal (90th min) that saved Osnabruck from defeat as they traveled to Duisburg and came away with a point in a 2 - 2 draw in 3Liga


Shawn Barry went 90 as Frankfurt fell 1 - 0 on a PK at Erfurt in Germany 3Liga


GK Kenneth Kronholm (90) and Kiel looked good for 3 home points, with a 2 - 0 lead at the half, but Aalen fought back and the game ended even at 2 - 2. That's 3 straight draws for Kiel, they need wins if they want to get into the promotion mix. Only 9 points separate #1 from #9, so there is still lots to play for in 3Liga


Devante Parker (90) was on the losing side as Mainz II hosted Paderborn and lost 0 - 1. Bottom of the table and with 4 straight loses, Mainz II are looking doomed at this point and Regionalliga next season looks almost certain


Jann George went 72 and picked up a yellow, as Regensburg hosted Sonnenhof and there cadre of Americans. GK David Yelldell stayed on the bench, but Mario Rodrigues (59) started and gave way to Joe Gyau for the final 30 minutes in this 1 - 1 draw in 3Liga. Both teams are improving with Sonnenhof 3 wins and 2 draws, Regensburg 2 wins 2 draws 1 loss - in their last 5.


Tim Tillman went 90 in Bayern U19 away win at 1860 Munich U19 in Junior Bundesliga (Süd/Südwest). The 0 - 3 win puts Bayern U19 on top of the table


In Bundesliga, John Brooks (90) and Hertha hosted Alfredo Morales (90 + Yellow) and Ingolstadt winning this one 1 - 0 on a 1st minute goal, breaking a 2 game skid and moving them to 5th place


Fabian Johnson came off the bench for M'Gladbach at 65th minute with the game tied at 0 with Freiburg, after that 'boom' M'Gladbach win 3 - 0, their 2nd straight.


Tim Ream (90) and Fulham went to Birmingham and lost 1 - 0 in England's Championship, denting Fulham's chances of a top 6 finish, still time though


Danny Williams (90) and Reading traveled to Ipswich and pulled off a 2 - 2 draw, maintaining their 3rd place


DeAndre Yedlin (90) and Newcastle continued to wrack up points as they win 1 - 0 at home to Derby. Newcastle are 2 points clear at the top and 6 point ahead in there quest for automatic promotion


Duane Holmes (45 + yellow) only went the first half as Scunthorpe visited Southend and lost 3 - 1 in England's League One. Scunthorpe have slipped a bit, but are still in 2nd place but are still 7 points ahead of 3rd place Bolton, for the automatic promotion.


GK Brendan Moore (90) and Torquay fall on a 13th minute PK, 1 - 0 to Bromley in England's National League. Torquay have now lost 4 of their last 5 games, and slipped down the table, and are 4 points out of the relegation zone


Echu Tabe went 90 for his new team, Ekenas in a 1 - 2 win at P-lirot in Finland Suomen Cup (Group D)


Emerson Hyndman went 90 in Rangers 1 - 1 draw at home with Ross County. Rangers are tied 2nd (3rd on GD) with Aberdeen, Hearts are 6 points behind them, but it looks good for our Americans for post season play


GK Danny Rogers (90) and Falkirk won their home game against Dunfermaline 2 - 0 in the Scottish Championship, moving them up to 3rd place. Danny gets the Shut-Out


Kevin Dzierzawski was an unused sub in Peterhead's 4 - 1 defeat by Airdrieonians in Scotland's League One. Peterhead are now only 3 points above the drop zone


Aaron Schoenfeld picked up a yellow in his debut with new club Maccabi Tel Aviv in their 1 - 0 win over H Beer Sheva in Israel Ligat ha'Al


Cameron Carter-Vickers was an unused sub as Tottenham managed a 1 - 0 win over Middlesbrough (Brad Guzan on the bench) in England's Premier League.


Captain Eric Lechaj (90) led Nottingham to a tight 2 - 1 win (the winning goal at 90 +2) over Aston Villa in England's Championship.


In Bundesliga, Christian Pulisic played the final 30 mins as Dortmund beat #2 RB Leipzig 1 - 0 and moved into 3rd place in Bundesliga


After playing 3 minutes on Friday for the Vitesse senior squad, Matt Miazga played 90 and picked up a yellow as Jong Vitesse traveled to Spakenburg and drew 2 - 2 in Netherlands Tweede Divisie (Third Tier)


Desevio Payne (90 + yellow) as Groningen give up a late goal and draw 1 - 1 with lowly Excelsior in Netherlands Eredivisie. That's 1 win and 4 draws in the last 5.


SUNDAY


Ethan Dent came off the Bench for Hawkes Bay as they beat Auckland 2 - 1 in New Zealand's Premier League


Matt Wiesenfarth came off the bench in Canterbury United's 1 - 1 draw at Hamilton in New Zealand's Premier League


Haji Wright (81) is red hot after the Winter Break, Scoring 2 Goals for Schalke U19 as they won a lop-sided victory 4 - 1 over Dusseldorf U19 in Junior Bundesliga (West) Schalke are now 4 points clear at the top of the table.


McKinzie Gaines II went 90 and picked up a yellow as Wolfsburg U19 traveled to Kiel U19 and won 1 - 2. Wolfsburg U19 maintain their 2nd place and distance themselves from Leipzig while getting to just 1 point behind leaders Hertha in Junior Bundesliga (Nord/Nordost)


Russell Canouse was an unused sub in Bochum's 1 - 1 draw with Karlsruher in Germany's 2Liga


GK Ethan Horvath was the back-up keeper for Club Brugge in Belgium's Jupiler League as they beat Charleroi 1 - 0. Club Brugge are now 3 points clear at the top of the table


Aaron Jóhannsson came off the bench at minute 66 for Bremen as they traveled to Augsburg, losing this one 3 - 2 in Bundesliga. 3 Straight losses for Bremen have pushed them to just 1 place above the red zone


Andrija Novakovich (90) and Reading U23 could not hold off Chelsea U23 dropping this one 2 - 0 in Premier League 2 (Division 1)


Cameron Carter-Vickers (90) started for Tottenham U23 as they traveled to Liverpool U23 in Premier League 2 (Division 1) losing 3 - 2. Note: Carter-Vickers was on the bench yesterday for the senior squad.


It was Timothy Chandler/Frankfurt vs Terence Boyd/Darmstadt in the late Bundesliga match. Chandler went 90 and Boyd 68 as Frankfurt took charge in the 2nd half winning 2 - 0. Darmstadt look doomed at this point while Frankfurt are battling for the 3rd Champions League spot.


Shaq Moore went 90 as Levante UD B, fall 2 - 1 at Cornella in Spain's Segunda Division B (Group 3)

GK Benjamin Machini resumed his position as back-up keeper as Barakaldo drew 1 - 1 with league leaders Albacete, on a late OG in Spain's Segunda Division B (Group 2)
