WEEKLY WRAP: 7.10 thru 7.16.2017: Saw 17 Goals & 3 Clean Sheets and a Mass of Friendlies

Oh! I can't wait for the seasons to begin!! the number of friendlies (and the lack of information) is dragging me down. Alright let's see what we have. Starting with the Keepers, Will Dieterich moved to Haukar in Iceland, on loan till the end of the season, and celebrated with a shut out, Jonathan Klinsmann signed with Hertha and played in 2 friendlies, getting a shut out in 1 (kinda) and Tim Murray finally got his chance in Finland and shut down the opposition and marked his spot.

Yes their were goals, most importantly, Aaron Schoenfeld, who fired up Maccabi Tel Aviv in their Europa League qualifier by scoring their first goal - drawing the game - and leading them to the eventual win. Andrija Novakovich deserves mention, in his first 2 games with Telstar in the Netherlands he scored a brace in each, all be it against weak opponents. Ryan Masch got his first goal of the season, and the American pair at Darmstadt (Boyd & Gaines) continued to score. Finally Jalon Brown lit up the scoreboard yet again in Australia.

Some new names to watch hit the list this week,  Maurice Malone, Kouami Dalmeida in Germany. Eric Ortega in Australia , Juan Torres in Belgium (the USYNT U18 player signed this week with Lokoren), Ian Sagstetter in Iceland and Giles Phillips in England. We have identified several more, which we will 'mention' as they make their squad's

In Germany the Oberliga started this week and 3Liga starts next weekend. Denmark's Superliga started this weekend, and we had Perry Kitchen starting for Randers, while GK Mike Lansing was on the bench for Aalborg- so things are starting up again, thankfully. So to the list for this week

MONDAY

Romain Gall came off the bench at the 79th minute as 10 man Sundsvall visited Djurgarden in Sweden's Allsvenskan, losing 2 - 1. With 5 straight losses, Sundsvall find themselves just above the drop zone, they really need to turn it around if they are to survive.

Mix Diskerud went 90 as Goteborg faced off with Halmstad in this Allsvenskan match-up, a game that Goteborg should win, especially if they have aspirations for Europe next season. Instead they found themselves down a goal just after half-time and had to fight back for a home draw, 1 - 1

Gregory Conrad, who scored last time out, was given the start for Afturelding as they hosted KV in Iceland's Division 2, but was subbed out at 56' (looks to be tactical) as Afturelding fall 1 - 2, dropping them to tied 4th (7th on GD)

TUESDAY

It had to happen I guess, GK Will Dieterich was placed on the bench for Grotta today, as the hosted Leiknir in Iceland's Inkasso-deildin, but the result was the same, Grotta fall 1 - 3 and the skid continues and safety gets further away (Note: as you will read later Will was getting ready for a move)

JC Mack (90) Scored Selfoss's only goal as they fall 2 - 1 at Haukar, where Harrison Hanley stayed on the bench, in the other Inkasso-deildin match today. Selfoss who started the season on fire have cooled off considerably...I doubt that they will recover enough to get back into contention in the league - we'll see

In Slovakia, GK Alex Horwath was the backup keeper for Brann as the Norwegian side visited Ruzomberok in the Europa League Qualification (1st leg) and won 0 - 1 - giving Brann a distinct advantage of playing the 2nd leg at home with an away goal under their belt.

GK Paul Blanchette (90) and PEPO had one of those days going down by 4 goals before they started to play, they got 2 back but the game ended 2 - 4 against , now, league leaders Inter Legirus in Finland's Kakkonen (Group A) PEPO maintain their 4th place, and are still only 3 points out of 1st place.

Iceland's Valur hosted Slovenia's Domzale in the Europa League Qualification (1st leg) Dion Acoff went the full 90 minutes as Valur fall 1 - 2, after a 72nd minute PK gave the visitors the lead. Its going to be a tough job to get done in Slovenia, but not impossible.

Dylan Williams Scored Launceston's first goal, as they go on to win 2 - 3 at Northern Rangers in Australia NPL (Tasmania). Launceston were up 0 - 3 after the start of the 2nd half, so looks like Northern Rangers made it interesting. Launceston are in limbo, above the drop zone by GD
