WEEKLY WRAP: 2.12 through 2.18.2018 as Young Americans Shine. Hawkins | Koreniuk |Weah | Bushue | Malone & Scott

So here we are in the midst of another UCL / Europa week, and another week for the young American's around the world to highlight, as the lower leagues continue their schedules. We lost many matches, especially in Germany, due to weather, that is bound to crowd the later schedules with make-up games. We are not well represented in the senior tournaments this season, so lets get to the shout outs for our young guys..Also please note the addition of late matches from last week, which will start off the Weekly Wrap from now on.

Jalen Hawkins hit a hat-trick in a friendly that ended a blow-out, in Germany, but any hat-trick deserves a big shout. Kai Koreniuk in Netherlands was involved in all 3 goals for his team, as he forced a PK, had an assist and scored that has to be some kind of trifecta. 2 Americans scoring in the same game for the same side doesn't happen that often so woohoo! Jacob Bushue and Etchu Tabe in Finland, and 2 of the youngest, Timothy Weah in France and Maurice Malone in Germany both get on the score-sheet (Timothy with the game winner) Finally Nick Depuy who is on a 3 month loan in Denmark opened his account this week. The final Shout Out and congratulations goes to Kyle Scott who made his debut appearance for Chelsea's senior squad this week.

OK. Enough for the Shout Outs for this week - now to the listings.

FROM LAST SUNDAY
(Many of the lower leagues do not get info out in time for a Sunday evening posting - so rather than lose that content, I am adding it to the following week.)

Jake Barros was an unused sub on Sunday's match as Atlético Arcos lose 3 - 0 at Gdu Torcatense in Campeonato de Portugal (Group A)

GK Kyle Parks was the backup keeper for SC Freamunde as they fall 0 - 1 at home to Aliança F.C.Gandra in Campeonato de Portugal (Group B) Good to see Kyle in the squad....his chance will come

Chijioke Aranotu started on Sunday as Scanzorosciate Calcio traveled to Ciliverghe Mazzano and grabbed an away point in a 1 - 1 draw in Italy's Serie D (Group B) . Scanzorosciate are struggling a bit and could find themselves in a relegation play-off situation (they do have a game in hand over the
surrounding teams though)

MONDAY

Shane O'Neill started for Jong Excelsior as they were pummeled at home 1 - 4 by Jong Cambuur in Netherlands Reserve League

In Iceland's League Cup (Group 1) Dion Acoff started and went 76 minutes as Valur go on to beat Njardvik 3 - 0 - tournament opening match for both teams.

GK Brandon Austin was the backup keeper for Tottenham U23 as they traveled across town to face West Ham U23 in England's Premier League 2 (Group 1) in a match that ended 1 - 1 giving Tottenham just enough to rise out of the relegation zone on GD

Kai Koreniuk (90) as Jong AZ beats Sittard 2 - 0 in Netherlands Eerste Divisie. Jong Ajax now have 2 straight wins as they battle there way out of the drop zone and move from 3rd bottom to 4th

GK Quentin Westberg remained on the bench as Auxerre were held to a goalless draw at home by Nemes in France Ligue 2

TUESDAY

Antonee Robinson (90) as Bolton traveled to Cardiff, losing 2 - 0 in England's Championship

In England's League One, Rochdale visited Bristol Rovers, with GK Brendan Moore on the bench and despite a spirited fight fall 3 - 2

Northampton inserted Gboly Ariyibi at 57th minute as they hosted Gillingham in League One, but it didn't do any good as they fall 1 - 2

Scunthorpe battled back to a 2 - 2 scoreline, then added in Duane Holmes in the final 15 minutes, but the scoreline remained a draw as Peterborough held on. Scunthorpe drop down to 5th place in League One

Niall Mason came off the bench at 61' and Scored from a PK. Unfortunately his goal just made the score a little more respectable, as Doncaster fall 4 - 2 at Walsall in League One

WEDNESDAY

Marc Heider (90) in a goalless affair between home team Osnabruck and Karlsruher in Germany's 3Liga. Osnabruck move 7 points clear off the red zone

THURSDAY

Christian Pulisic (85) in Dortmund's 3 - 2 win over, Italy's Serie A club, Atalanta in the Europa League. Hopefully that will be enough to take to Italy for the 2nd leg, although Atalanta does not have a stellar home record have lost 3 and won 2 in their last 5 home games...fingers crossed!

FRIDAY

Timothy Tillman played the 2nd half as Bayern II were thumped 1 - 4 by FC Liefering (Austria 2nd tier) in a friendly in Germany

Andrija Novakovich (90) had a lively match, but #5 Telstar, who scored early, could not hold on as #3 Sittard came back and tied things up at 1 - 1, still an overall good result for Telstar in Eerste Divisie

Its not often that you can use the term 'cellar dweller' and Manchester United in the same sentence, but EPL 2 last place Man U U23 are horrid! Today Matt Olosunde (90) and his team were trounced 0 - 4 by Chelsea U23 and look destined for the drop from EPL2 Group One to Group Two

Kenny Saief (90) as Anderlecht continue to slip (2 losses 3 draws in last 5) as they fall 1 - 0 at St. Truiden in Belgium's Jupiler League. With 3 matches left in the regular season Anderlecht look fairly safe for post-season play (Club Brugge has already qualified) The really big battle will be for the final 2 spots (total is 6 teams post-season) were 3 points separate 10th from 5th.

SATURDAY

It's nice to start the day with one of our guys scoring, so in this preseason friendly (which admittedly is a bit of a laugher) to see Jalen Hawkins Score 3 Goals serves the purpose. Still, if I say that Bayern U17 scored a 14 - 0 win over Legia Warsaw U17 it does not diminish the feat, but maybe takes some of the shine off.

Josue Soto (65) and Oulu suffer a crushing defeat 2 - 6 at home to KuPS in Finland's Suomen Cup (Group A). It's going to be difficult (but not impossible) for Oulu to get out of the group round, they are 3 points behind qualifying with a game in hand

Lyonel Hyer came on as a cameo in the closing moments as Hannover U19 traveled to Union Berlin U19 and won 1 - 4 in A Junioren Bundesliga (Nord/Nordost)

Mason Robertson (90) as Peterhead are held to a 1 - 1 draw by Berwick in Scotland's League Two. Peterhead are 6 points behind leaders Montrose, but have 2 games in hand. Only 1 team receives automatic promotion, if Peterhead can win their next 2 they have a far superior GD
