In Spain, we have a number of young players, primarily in the Tercera (4th Tier) a sprawling league that covers 17 or so regions in Spain. As well as a few players in the (3rd tier) Segunda B. Mukwelle Akale at Villarreal and Shaq Moore at Levante are probably our best know representatives in Spain but just below them, players like Khai Celestin at CD Sariñena, Ander Egiluz at Basconia, Keeper Benjamin Machini & Akil Watts at RCD Mallorca with Ali Khatoun coming up at Leganes. Below that we have young phenom (my choice of words) Konrad de la Fuentes at Barcelona's Juvenil B along with Ben Lederman.
In Italy, Josh Perez at Livorno is probably the most well known, but a group of young players are starting to make their mark. Rafael Antonio Iacovelli moved from New York to Cesena in the Primavera, Chijioke David Aranotu is playing regularly for USD Scanzorosciate in Serie D where newcomer Jarrett Reeser is trying to break in to the Varese squad, as are other US young players across Italy.
In Portugal, everybody is familiar with Texas's Keaton Parks at Benfica, but he isn't the only one trying their talent in Portugal. Keeper CJ dos Santos & Armando Pelaez are also pushing for spots at Benfica. Jake Barros just debuted this weekend at Atletico Arco in the Campeonato de Portugal, Stephen Payne is at Varzim and Mark Withers just transferred to Salgueiros. Finally news broke this week that Keaton Parks older brother, Keeper, Kyle Parks has signed with SC Freamunde also in the Campeonato de Portugal
So there is my Shout Out - there are others in these countries, some I have identified, and some I probably have not - yet. But its exciting to see that the US has the players with talent to break into these and other countries that traditionally only look inward for their future talent.
